Both sides are retarded for arguing, on the internet, over the idea of a webcomic and its possible association with plagiarism.

One one hand, the comic was never copyrighted, so they are legally in the clear.

But on the other hand, the fact that two comics appear with surprisingly similar jokes, executions, and settings is uncanny, and I would find it very uncommon for two people to have the, quite bodaciously, same exact idea. A similar idea, perhaps, but not the same.

But I digress. I don't know and I don't, frankly, care. The defending side (I:E the community of this site) is especially retarded for getting bothered about an accusation of the theft of intellectual property.

I mean, why would you get angry at this accusation unless you had a doubt in your mind about the status of it? Are you really as faithful as you believe if you are having doubts about it in the first place?

Sure is trolls in here. I concede you are all different, but that's not exactly better. Some of you have shown a willingness to debate the subject which I applaud. Others seem to correlate "debate" with "be five years old" which is...less laudable.

Kamak, if you believe that we did not provide enough proof to satisfy our accusations, you should look through the last few pages. May I also refer you my previous post:

Though you are free to argue that Awkward Zombie's artist thought of this joke independently, and you are not incorrect for doing so, the probability of having the exact same delivery, which is the case, is astronomically insignificant. The most logical answer would be that the artist was, consciously or subconsciously, influenced by the work that predated hers.

In terms of the comic, it's a stretch that an BLU spy would offer condolences for a RED Sniper to begin with. But to have it happen on two different instances with the EXACT SAME gesture of compassion?

I would also like to place emphasis on JustPointingOut's post above.

I think I've made my point, but let's not argue any further.

I think this forum has bigger problems, namely the hundreds of people (and counting!) who are monitoring this thread.

Man, this site is chugging right now.

Please show me a post, any post during this 'discussion' that has progressed us at all.

We're going in circles. You three refuse to accept the possibility that Norrin thought up this comic independently, Madican and I realise the joke and execution is simple and easily imagined and that most likely he has NOT heard of this joke before.

It's two comics (that we know of). The internet is a daisies big place, if you didn't realise.

But here I go again, around and around in a circle...

You refuse to accept the possibility that it was straight up plagiarism.

k.

It's a "possibility" in the same sense that there's a "possibility" that we could be wiped out by a meteor tomorrow. However, that doesn't mean that it's true, and as the accuser in this "debate" (and I say this with the loosest meaning of the word), you have the burden to prove the claim that this is indeed plagiarism, and so far, the entire argument is that they're "similar" in the way that a an oval is a circle if you look at it from the side and ignore all other possible viewpoints.

Also, thank you for mis-attributing the end of my post to Nancy... apparently you can't tell two people apart...

-disregard this post-

Sorry about that, the site didn't like me trying to use the quote function twice. They are similar in the way that a restaurant has a secret recipe and another restaurant obtained the same recipe and gave it a different look.

She made an almost carbon copy of another comic and it wasn't enough to convince you. Just out of interest, what WOULD be sufficient evidence to convince you that she'd plagiarised? Because I really can't see how you could get much worse without putting "YES I COPIED THIS." in the newspost.

If you cannot answer the question then I would say there's probably something wrong with your position.

I am not saying that the comic COULDN'T have been plagiarised.

I'm saying it PROBABLY WASN'T.

The joke itself is fairly basic, if you know your TF2. The execution makes sense and is humorous.

Also, hi /v/.

Remember that episode of Seinfeld where Elaine copies a Ziggy comic subconsciously? That's another possibility.

You continue to spout your opinion as though it were fact. Let's take a walk through it shall we?

The Sniper in TF2 is generally regarded to use piss as a weapon. The Spy is his natural enemy. Tell me, is it not possible that you could suddenly think of what might happen if there was something wrong with the piss. Blood in the urine is one of the more common signs with bad ailments, that's hardly an original idea.

So, we have the Spy getting Jarate'd, as usual in a TF2 game, except someone then applied that "blood in the urine" idea to suggest Sniper has prostate cancer or something equally horrifying. Or maybe he just peed too much.

As for the Spy's gesture of consolation, what is the common gesture for two men who know each other and one wishes to offer some comfort. A hug is out, and a handshake inconceivable. You guessed it, a hand on the shoulder.

There, I just broke down the entire joke. Can you see now how coincidences can occur through a common thought?

Quoting it again so the legions may view it. Is it really so difficult to accept that an idea is not unique? Just by Googling sniper with blood in his urine I got several people saying the same idea, along with a curiously named industrial cleaner.

You keep using or implying that word, but I don't you understand what it means.

"Troll" implies that someone is deliberately insulting you to get a response out of you for their own pleasure.
I'd think that the offenders here are more righteous than that, rather, they see something subjectively wrong, and, as they see fit, try to discuss and potentially find the conclusion of this appallingly rare circumstance.
Please stop trying to back peddle in this argument, if it can even be called that. I mean, if you're going to start, or react to the shit thrown by the offenders, at least stay in the discussion long enough to see it out.

You expect logic and reason from other people but provide none yourself.

Saying it probably wasn't makes you just as foolish as those saying it probably was. Neither of you can be correct since neither of you have enough information to prove your stance. You're both arguing with opinions and feelings, which is just silly.
