Roy's attacks just send opponents farther. Y'know, in a game like SSB(M), there are stats such as defense, which calculates how far your character gets thrown with a given amount of damage, and strength, which calculates how far you'd hit a given character with X% damage. It's not all numbers.

And in a bare sword fight between myself as Roy and my friend as Marth in the upper left section of the Temple stage, I always win, somewhere between a close fight and a landslide. Marth wasn't his best character, but it was one of his betters. I'd like to think I could take someone on with Roy, but then again, I've never played against a wavedashing freak.

But. Bygones. Now I use Lucario, Ness, and Sonic. Sonic feels kinda overbalanced. His speed is countered by his wimpy running attack, but he has great aerial attacks, an absurd Up + B that allows him to attack afterwards, and well-reaching up and down smashes. My friend and I both picked him up and immediately started kicking booty. Suspicious?

Roy actually didn't have more knockback than Marth. I believe the tipper of Marth's sword and the middle of Roy's had about the same knockback, except Roy was slower and laggier.

And I'm sure that Hal Labs thought it would be a great idea to design a character that's exactly the same as another character, only worse.

In fact, they liked it so much they made two more, Young Link and Pichu. And they even kept Young/Toon Link in Brawl... although he at least got better projectiles.

I wasn't expecting clones to return in that amount to Brawl, although most of them have been diversified enough. But Toon Link appears to be pretty much unchanged, and so does Ganondorf (except a different Final Smash). And Wolf is just annoying because a) he's the third SF character with the same base and b) his behavior in Brawl sucks.

Nothing against the characters, really, I just consider their movesets a bit of a waste of space compared to more diversified characters. Like Luigi.

From the ripped game data, it was discovered that Roy's moveset and other related data are present. They probably were gonna include him in the game until they decided on drastically cutting down on clone characters.

Wolf's are different enough and all his a-moves are different, same with Ganon.

It's the b-moves that are similar but even then thier not exactly the same.

Besides, people with similar moves is nothing new to fighting games *cough Akuma,Ken,Ryucough* and no one ever complained because any pro will tell ya it's the style that matters.

Roy has no data, just a folder with his name on it, and an unused victory theme.

Yes, but that usually was a technical matter. Melee's clones were made because they wanted to fill the leftover room in the disc (and as for Ganondorf, they probably didn't have enough time to get him a proper moveset).

Brawl was another matter entirely, and with all that content crammed into it, you'd think they could've avoided that this time. Well, at least they did diversify most clones somewhat, but those 3 are still bad for different reasons.

I'm gong to miss roy being in the comics Katie makes though. Unless he comes back every once and a while only to get kicked out. >_<

Pit is great though. His spinning sword move (B forward) is fun and it annoys the other players if you use it often. My brother yelled at me and then I KO-ed him when he wasn't paying attention.

Seriously though, he has a vendetta against Pit, so seeing a little vengeance would not be out of Roy's character...Bets are now open on how long it takes for Pit to get Pyrophobia!

I also wonder how Mewtwo would have taken the "firing." All we know about Katie's Mewtwo character is that he doesn't like Roy too much (at least he dislikes Roy enough to throw a Rubik's Cube at his head) and that M2 likes messing with people's dreams.
