Solely? I hate him because of his appearance. The evolution chain started off awesome, then the moment the cute lil pig evolved it started looking ugly. I expected some cool four legged fire boar, instead we ended up with some kind of deformed peanut.

The fire/fighting thing just annoys me because we could have had some unique types instead.

I think it would have been better being a fire/dark boar sort of like Ganon in Twilight Princess.

But I have taken a liking to it. I actually like all three starters and their evolutions.(yes, I have grown somewhat to Sammorot)

Fire/Dark would have been great. Then it would be good against psychic, not bad. And the Fire/Ice combo someone mentioned would have also been awesome for beating dragon types.

Also Fire/Ice in a Hailstorm team.

For those saying the looks thing about Emboar...

Snivy looked okay, and even Servine.....Then Serperior. I was expecting a giant booty grass dragon with wings not....a banana that looks like Milotic. Then for some reason, the whole Snivy evolution line rustled me off.

What i do is save up and buy both versions, then let my poor friend borrow the one i dont like. In exchange for doing this however i make him trade over the other two starters that i didnt gain normaly. Everybody wins.
But i never use any of those starters now...you just cant beat typlosion (named mine Dyplosion(like die ) and is lvl 100 legit)

I'm seriously bugged that I just typed a huge argument on why these FireFighting types are bad, only for a database error to show up...

Try typing 'Pokemon' without the accented 'e'.

The real reason I hate these Fire/Fighting types is because they perfectly examplify the most annoying trend in all of Pokemon (see, no aksent this time). It is a trend of egotism and anthropocentrism, and in my opinion must be stopped right now, even though it has already been too late for about ten years.
As Pokemon evolve cringing at the no-accent thing they become more humanoid, less animal. They may become bipeds, gain more expressive facial features or grow body parts that resemble clothing. This scale never tips to less human / more animal, though may stay on equal level. There are NO exceptions to this (I checked).
This sends the statement that Human > Animal. Human = Power, Power = Human.

And that is bad.

The same happened in Digimon.

Yeah it bothered me a little too, but it's less all-encompassing in Pokemon.


Oh, and Snivy becomes less humanoid as it evolves.

So does Oshawott.

I must admit that this is a long standing opinion of mine, and that my archive does not contain the gen V Pokemon. I actually refrained from looking at them, as I wanted to be surprised if I eventually would play the games.

I agree in Oshawott's case, but not in Snivy's. As that one evolves, it loses limbs, but gains more clothing-like and haircut-like appearances. It is one of those who stays on the same level IMO.

Okay, older Pokemon then. How about Charmander. As it evolves it becomes more and more fierce looking and winged in the end.
