Who uses ultra balls to catch legendaries?

*slowly raises hand*

But only if I run out of other balls, first.

Yeah, what am I supposed to use?

I rotate the Pokeballs I use.

Dusk Ball - Ultra Ball - Heavy Ball - Dusk Ball - Ultra Ball - Heavy Ball.

On legendaries anyway - depending on which legendary, with the Heavy Balls - obviously.


Dive Balls are as good as Dusk Balls in the right circumstances.

85% of legendaries are in caves or places considered to be caves. You use duck balls.

AFAIK the pros catch legendaries in weaker Pokeballs and then gloat about it.

The only legendaries I've bothered to catch in HG are Ho-oh, Zapdos, Mewtwo, and Kyogre. I haven't bothered to hunt down Articuno, Moltres, Lugia, Entei, Suicune, Raikou, or Latias, and my bro quit SS before beating Red so I'd have to get his copy if I wanted Groudon, Latios, and/or two Rayquazas.

Ho-oh: Ultra Ball IIRC. What I do remember is that this took me several tries, with at least one attempt resulting in my party getting wiped. Yep, I got so caught up in trying to catch Ho-oh that it managed to kill off my team at least once.
Zapdos: Dusk Ball at night.
Mewtwo: Ultra Ball.
Kyogre: Ultra Ball.

The reason I don't remember what I used to catch Ho-oh is because I traded it to my copy of Diamond for a Dialga, which is IMO the best Pokemon in the game, better than even Arceus.

Might as well mention that on Diamond, my team was so horribly underleveled that it was in no condition to fight Dialga. I was down to a badly wounded Gyarados that I don't think was even level 50, so to avoid a wipe, I had to throw my Master Ball on the first turn. Engage laugh track here: Dialga's catch rate is 30 instead of the usual 3.
I probably should've just restarted the game there; my team consisted of Empoleon, Luxray, Staraptor, Clefairy (I was waiting for it to learn Meteor Mash at level 42), (I forgot what else I had in my team), and a Gyarados that was EXP-shared several levels ahead of the rest of my team.

At least I was able to catch Azelf, Uxie, and Giratina without any problems other than those legendaries dying on me. Hell, I reduced Giratina to Struggle at least twice via Staraptor's immunity to Earthquake and Shadow Force. The only thing I had to worry about was Slash, and I had enough healing items to cover that.
For Azelf and Uxie, I caught and leveled a Sneasel to laugh in the face of Confusion. My Golbat (Now a Crobat at that point) had Haze to eliminate the buffs from Nasty Plot and Amnesia, but it was weak against Confusion.

Dialga is awesome

But Mew is the best legendary :3

Question: Why do you want to forward pokemon to your new game AFTER you beat it? What's the point ;_;

*snort* There's really almost no difference at all between using a Pokeball and an Ultra Ball on a legendary.

3 catch rate... or 6 catch rate. BIG CHANGE OH MY GOD. And most people use Ultra Balls, so I guess that makes most people automatically pros because they are the weaker balls compared to the others.
