Honestly I'm never one to do this but I imagine there's some website somewhere discussing how to speed run the game by killing everybody then using the bike to move faster than beating everyone with just Ness.

I have never played Earthbound.

But I know people who have missed recruitment options in Fire Emblem in survive chapters because they kill everybody before the person appears.

So I'm assuming these people exist for Earthbound too.

I don't think anyone is really surprised about there being an engagement. It was more the delivery alongside a comic on dead friends.
