in the last panel, which link is that? i mean, his hair looks like one of them while the clothes look like the other. did one steal the others clothes, or was it just some sort of drawing mistake?

if those are the rules, then she's been a upstanding member of society for a while.

Something about the general statements in this thread make me angry.

In SSB, my best characters were Kirby and Link. In Melee, Kirby was okay, but I sucked with Link. In Melee, I played as Roy, Young Link, Mewtwo, and Dr. Mario (amoung a few others). I'm sure that if those characters were in Brawl, I probably wouldn't use them. Who cares if your best character is out? They probably wouldn't be your best anymore if they were in.

And I can't believe people are still arguing about clones. I hope I don't perpetuate the arguement more, but I seriously need to get this out of my system:

I hate whoever it is that decided to call them clones. The simple fact of the matter is, they're terribly different (ESPECIALLY Roy and Marth). Their stats cause them to play completely differently, and people who think that they're the same are simply taking the game at face value. A fighter is more than just the sum of it's moves, if I could be cliche for a moment. Moment's over. People keep comparing Ike to Roy because of some similar moves. The difference is, Ike is PAINFULLY slow. Honestly, I can't stand how long it takes him to get a smash attack going. With Roy, I could take a spot, then swat away anyone who tried to challenge me with a quick forward smash. With Ike, he has to start the smash earlier on, giving the foe time to react and shield, so this technique doesn't work. In reality, Ike is more similar to King Dedede, with his slow, powerful, multidirectional attacks. Roy is more similar to Donkey Kong, with long range, quick powerful attacks, and awkward aerial and running attacks. But this isn't about Roy and Ike, it's about Roy and Marth. Why do you think Marth is so popular in competitions and Roy... isn't? Marth is quick, and needs to work a foe over with many attacks before he can get some distance going. Personally, I can't stand his up special attack. It barely scratches the opponent, leaving you above them and them on the ground, and you have nothing to defend yourself with.

But I could go on. (I kind of did) The point is, people who think clones really are clones just don't understand the ins and outs of a match. This game is full of subtle complexities that deserve to be recognized, and people who don't see this seriously make me angry. Which doesn't happen often.

Completely agree. Though ike is not a problem for me, but then again i love using the strong guys.

It's all about timing. It's not how fast or strong you are it's how you use it.

And why hasn't anyone made a Captain N reference joke to pit?

I guess you guys might be too young to remember that show........great now i feel old. :(

Roy is inferior, both in and out of Smash Bros.

copy & pasted from someplace:

Quote:
Marth vs. Roy

Wavedash length: Marth's is longer
Running speed: Marth is faster
Taunt length: Marth's is faster
Marth's sweetspot is at the very tip of his sword
Roy's sweetspot is at the center of his sword.
Marth is heavier than Roy.
Roy falls faster than Marth.
Marth's ground A attack comes out faster continuously than Roy's.
Roy's throws are stronger, but Marth can chain throw better.
Roy's up B is slower than Marth's but has multiple hits and can be aimed angularly to a certain extent.
Marth's d-air is a spike (not a meteor smash). Roy's d-air is a meteor at the hilt of his sword.
Roy's d-tilt sends the opponent up, while Marth's sends the opponent downwards.
Roy's U-smash has multiple hits and can "spike" if you hit with the tip of his sword.

Attack Strength

A moves (All of these values were calculated using sweetspots.)
---

Neutral A
Marth: 6%
Roy: 5%

F-tilt
Marth: 13%
Roy: 10%

U-tilt
Marth: 12%
Roy: 8%

D-tilt
Marth: 10%
Roy: 10%

N-air
Marth: 13%
Roy: 11%

F-air
Marth: 13%
Roy: 8%

B-air
Marth: 13%
Roy: 9%

U-air
Marth: 13%
Roy: 6%

D-air
Marth: 13%
Roy: 10%

F-smash
Marth: 20% uncharged, 27% charged
Roy: 20% uncharged, 27% charged

U-smash
Marth: 18% uncharged, 24% charged
Roy: 16% uncharged, 22% charged

D-smash
Marth: 16% uncharged, 21% charged
Roy: 21% uncharged, 28% charged

Who has stronger A moves?
Marth: 9
Roy: 1

B moves
--------
Neutral B
Marth: 7% uncharged, 28% charged
Roy: 6% uncharged, 50% charged

Forward B*
Marth: 4% 5% 10% 14%
Roy: 5% 6% 9% 11%

Up B
Marth: 13%
Roy: 13%

Down B
Marth: 7%
Roy: 1.5x attack countered

Who has stronger B moves?
Marth: 1
Roy: 2

Throws
-------
F-throw
Marth: 4%
Roy: 5%

B-throw
Marth: 4%
Roy: 5%

U-throw
Marth: 4%
Roy: 5%

D-throw
Marth: 5%
Roy: 6%

Grab Attack
Marth: 3%
Roy: 3%

Who has stronger throws?
Marth: 0
Roy: 4

Who has stronger moves overall?
Marth: 10
Roy: 7

4 of the moves Roy has that are better than Marth's, are better by 1%
Roy's super-powerful charge special is one of the hardest moves to land in the game, unless your opponent is retarded. I wouldn't count that as a move that would make me want to play as Roy over Marth.

Roy blows.

I'd be abosolutely rustled off if they gave Marth and English VA, and never buy another Nintendo game, ever.

Ike had English VAs in his games, so its only common sense he would also speak English in Brawl.

Not for nothing but that seems like a silly reason not to buy a game...especially since the remak of his game is coming to the us.

I dunno, i just like knowing what people are saying. i get frstrated when i can't understand someone.
