I'm just saying that they've been discussed. Personally, I've never read LICD.

By the way, do any of you like pure, concentrated anti-semitism?

Enjoy.

But I don't like pure, unconcentrated anti-semitism. D:

Also, I was just stating my opinion on those two webcomics. Nothing more.

So guys.

I stumbled across xkcd sucks.

I found out that, where I thought the comics were very high-brow humour that I couldn't understand for not knowing enough about the subject (eg: like Penny Arcade, before reading the News Post), I now know that the real case is just that there's hardly any humour involved in the first place!

Like take the third latest comic (the two latest ones are movie references, so I'm not counting them):

Try find the humour.

And no, the apparently decapitated man is not the joke. That's just someone, somehow, managing to screw up drawing a stick figure!

That site makes me very sad.
Someone really spends their time telling other people about how much they dislike every single xkcd comic.
I believe that's a new low.

Personally, I like xkcd and I thought the rock climbing comic was worth a chuckle.

Not to mention Randall Munroe actually can draw, contrary to whatever that guy says. There's just no need to do any better than those stick figures.

Angry Videogame Nerd? Nostalga Critic? Linkara? This is the same thing, but with one particular webcomic in detail instead of a type of medium as a whole. They don't just go "I hate this comic", they explain why they hate the comic, what it does wrong, what it should be like. And they do have genuinely valid points!

And no, they do not hate every single xkcd comic. They do actually say if they found a comic funny or not. But, well, when the majority of comics can be divided into categories of "sex", "depressing relationships", "internet memes" and "quirky relationships", well it's a given that it's not going to be all that funny.

A comic doesn't have to be funny to be good.

And a comic doesn't need to have good art to be good.

A comic whose entire basis is on one-strip jokes needs to be funny to be good.

If you thought anything other than "a mountain full of trees in autumn", you're entirely wrong.

In other words, a strip not relying on visual jokes doesn't need good art. Stick figures are fine there, and nobody really complains about it - even the guys at the xkcdsucks blog thinks that'd be a low blow. But when one does, well, xkcd has a tendancy to fall flat on its face there.

(and just to hammer in my point of how humourless it is, note that "someone prefers computer-generated images to real sights" does not constitute a joke) (and neither does not knowing what a hue slider does is)

It's making fun of modern technology because you can save time going out and taking new pictures of the same place by just taking existing pictures and modifying the hue.

Plasma quit being an old man

And I dunno about you, but I could tell it was Autumn Trees. It's really not that hard, even though they are not the best drawn trees.

Old man.

Also, I just saw it's a mountain under the Trees. I just thought it was a perspective thing that didn't involve an incline. I'll admit, he messed up a bit on the perspective and shading that would make it look more like trees on a mountain.

See, AVGN and NC just annoy me by now. I never got into Linkara (probably because I was never much into comics either) but I like what I saw from him in some of Spoony's reviews.
Now, as far as generally negative reviewers go, I watch Spoony and Yahtzee, for example, and the main difference, to me, between those two and that site you linked is that I find the former two entertaining while the latter just bores me.

Plasma wrote:

Alright, let me rephrase that:
They don't hate every single xkcd comic, but they take their time to take every single one apart and analyse it.
See, Spoony or Yahtzee don't review every bad movie or game. Not even every single one of a specific series.

Plasma wrote:

Sure, you can technically start forcing everything into three or four categories and be right, but that's like saying all movies are boring and essentially the same thing because they're either about normal people, extraordinary people or just a whole lot of people.

Plasma wrote:

Right, on this I agree with you. When I first saw that comic, I thought they are on a volcano or something.
However, I didn't even think that comic was supposed to be funny. I thought that about quite some xkcd comics, actually. Worth a smile, but less because it's funny and more because it's sort of beautiful. And not in the visual way.
