this is the same kind of shit that the statisticians/quants do on wall street. they tell you that the data are interpreted with whichever way they want you to buy, and then sell the other one. it's actually a pretty good strategy. unfortunately for those on the other side of the trade. (I'm not anti wall street, I'm just anti-strategically-biased-statistician, and you can find a lot of them at ... say a company that rhymes with Oldman Facts.) Wordplay like "50% more"... or "50% more often" or "20% larger than" etc... they can mean a lot of different things depending on your angle.

When Katie said she was doing another Asshole Shades comic I thought it would end up being one of mine. It's much easier to just steal one of her punchlines.

That would be 4 times AS LARGE. Which is equivalent to 3 TIMES LARGER.

Wait you're talking about the difference between 4x=y and x+3x=y right? It might be a lingual problem but I'd never interpret any question of "how much larger" as being the second.

Your blatant disregard for gradeschool level mathematics has so infuriated me that I have been awakened from my thousand year slumber for the sole purpose of spewing my hatred and bile before you. Your inability to grasp such simple concepts as "four times as large" astounds me, in much the same way that I would be befuddled by a child stating that a block hidden beneath a blanket has in fact ceased to be. But while this fanciful child has the crutch of youth and simplicity to rest their weary, imaginary form upon, you are supported instead by a foundation of pure ignorance. A foundation laid by what I can only assume is the final maddening result of an architect who, driven insane by the cries and bellows of the fools below, escaped this wretched life by immersing himself in the cement beneath your structure of false mathematics. In all my days on this planet, in each second of each hour, I never thought I would live to see this deep a disregard for the linguistics and meaning behind simple, basic algebra.

May God have mercy on your soul.

In each of the pictures, one of the drawings cannot be drawn with only one line. Which one is it?

It has to do with whether or not the graph has an Euler trail. That property makes the problem trivial.

It seems to me that Varn only emerges in times of great need, whereas Merlin emerges only when he is needed the least.
When either of these rare events occur, it causes the forum to slow periodically in a form of awe. However, when a new page is created and others begin to discuss the bizarre event, it has already past and is no more than a fleeting blip in the existence of the internet.

The forum grinds and turns as it always has, awaiting the next cameo that will be forgotten just as quickly.
These are The Days of Our Lives.

If you take the Varn and you take the Merlin, when you take them both, there you have the Facts of AZ.

They can ALL be drawn with one line...then again, I'm a flaming smartass, and you didn't include the fact that you can't go over lines you've already drawn.

If you want to be a smarty pants, you should have pointed out the fact that none of them can, because a line is straight and goes forward, and DEFINITELY doesn't curve.

It would be more accurate to say "Pencil stroke", or "without lifting your pencil from the paper".
