Who said 'Jack' was a bad webcomic?
A lot of people on Cracked's "Worst Webcomic" thread, actually. I mentioned it here as well, briefly.
I called it depraved, not bad, on account of all the questionable content that it tends to get into. Raping small children who have cancer, for instance, is not justifiable even if the act is committed by one of the antagonists and frowned upon by the rest of the cast. The people who commented on it thought that it was entirely unnecessary for establishing an unlikable character, and I agree. It was also hardly the only time in the comic that something like that happened.
Most people from that thread also had a problem with the comic's means of introducing new characters with stories independent from the main plot, which were never heard from again after their stories had run their course. Some of them had problems with the writing and art style, but I remember the biggest problem being the way that the main story gets ignored so often.
Another interesting fact: The authors of both Concession and Furthia High (exactly what it sounds like) joined the thread to defend their webcomics and admitted that they didn't like the author of Jack, but I can't recall their specific reasons.
