Try to put everything on a seperate layer for as much as possible.

And the wand tool is pretty good for removing background from the things you want to put elsewhere, though you will need to adjust the tolerance a bit, since the wand may not remove so much, or either remove parts of the thing you need. Though the higher the tolerance, the better.

For better results, use the eraser tool to erase around the edges of what you want to cut out. The wand will leave jaggies.

And download the font Helvetica Neue. It can be found for free on the internet. Katie uses the bold condensed format of it for the dialogue in the comics. Anything you write will always look very slightly different from her normal text though, so I strongly recommend just erasing and rewriting everything.
