I love Serebii's recommendations for the most part, I had an aneurysm when they recommended a timid Lugia.

Bold, man. Bold. Timid isn't bad, but that thing is meant to be a tank.

To be honest a lot of the natures they recommend aren't my first choice, but I'm going to explore the recommendations offered up by Smogon for the sake of learning different ways of battling.

I went out of my way for a timid Lugia this time around because I have other Lugia (plural) with offensive-focus natures already.

Eh, I choose not to go offensive with Lugia. In this case I think defense is the best offense. While their recommended natures are meh, they do give a lot of good insight into move set choice and whatnot, which is what I really like.

Yeah, in the past I've always gone for natures which maximise the offensive stats of any and all Pokemon, I've only recently realised this way of thinking doesn't suit every Pokemon, and isn't ideal for Pokemon battles.

Speed seems to be the most pressing concern a lot of the time.

That's something I realized a while ago, too. When I was planning out possible teams and whatnot I looked up and realized, "oh god these are all special sweepers."
