This is probably one of the most obvious jokes about this series, for crying out loud.

Nah, this is outright subtle compared to this one:

Not everyone needs to have a compulsion to complain about the same things you have a compulsion to complain about. I daresay people can be reading the comic for different reasons than you entirely. And I'm starting to wonder whether there's been a comic of Katie's in recent history you've found at least tolerable.

Would now be a good time to mention that I've never played an Ace Attorney game?

...I have Project X Zone 2 if that counts.

I laughed at a comic once and now I'm holding Katie personally responsible as I try to capture that feeling again. How dare she.
That sound right?

The joke may be obvious, but it's delivered well enough that it's still funny to me.

Except I don't read gaming webcomics to see people make the same observations that everybody else has made. I'm reading them to see people make unique observations.

Plus having the joke being spelled out in so many words feels annoying and a waste when this comic could've just been three panels and 4 speech bubbles:

Quote:
"I have proof that my client is innocent!"
"But can you prove that somebody else is guilty?"
"Um, no-"
"GUILTY"

Also, altair, please get rid of that accursed FE13 avatar. I can already feel myself getting brain cancer.

As someone who got Project X Zone 2 simply because it had Phoenix Wright (and Chrom/Lucina) as playable units, with absolutely no idea as to the actual content of the game, I'll say it counts. On that note, Project X Zone 2 has become one of my favorite games to waste many hours on, and has pushed me to consider picking up some of the other titles that crossed over, so everything turned out okay in the end.

My response to the whole trollbait portion of this thread:

I'm going to suggest, Trueblade, that you read up on the sunk-cost fallacy, and introduce you to the idea that it is silly to get angry at gaming webcomic #170428 to the point where you insult the readers of said webcomic for not being as angry as you.

I like the part where a simple gaming comic made by a rocket scientist as a fun hobby was taken seriously on the internet.

I think it's fair to post about how you didn't like a comic or a joke.
I also think it's fair to let others enjoy that comic or that joke.
Criticism of Katie's work isn't against our rules as far as I know! But it'd also be grand to simply say that you didn't like it and why, instead of going "I can't be-LIEVE you guys like this!!"
Different strokes for different folks. Some people just don't mind simpler jokes. It's fine.
Just don't be a dick. :)

I honestly had no idea what the game was, either. I bought it purely because of some of the characters (Chrom/Ryu/Mega Man to name a few), but didn't know what the actual game was or how it played. Didn't stop it from quickly becoming one of my favorite games of 2016, though!

I know the first Project X Zone is was released stateside for the 3DS in 201--3? The original Namco X Capcom will be harder to find, though, as it hasn't been officially translated.

EDIT: Rectified soon. Currently downloading the Ace Attorney Trilogy as one of my acquaintances on another forum gave me an eShop code! Merry Christmas!
