She reads through them and if she likes an idea she'll use it. The fact that she credits people in the comic ideas threads fairly often shows that she's willing to use ideas that mesh with her style of comic writing. It doesn't mean the suggestions that aren't picked are bad, but generally the ones that haven't been picked from some X pages back aren't going to be made because she already considered them. So new ideas are always welcome there.

If you would rather keep your suggestions to make yourself that's fine too. This was a suggestion to get people involved in helping bring content they want to see. If they're tired of Metal Gear, come up with a Pokemon/Zelda/Golden Sun/whatever comic idea to pitch in the thread and Katie might use it in place of whatever she has brewing for that next comic she's working on.

Either way, that thread's not going away anytime soon.

I'd argue that being the worst suggestion I can imagine. If any of us had the artistic skill Katie is at (and let's be real here - it would take a long time to reach that point), we probably would draw it ourselves. We're complaining because we love Awkward Zombie, but it's really getting stale. I've even been considering stopping by only biweekly, since I have no interest in Metal Gear. Yes, there have been some pretty funny comics about the series, but the majority don't interest me.

Y'all have the right to criticize a lack of diversity in the recent comics but I still think your complaints are dumb. They're just comics on the internet, you aren't paying anything to look at them, Katie is making what she likes to make, and the comics are still understandable even though I've never played a MG game in my life, and you KNOW she's still gonna make comics about other games in the future.

Still, despite never having gotten in Metal Gear, the comics are alright. I get the point that there isn't enough variation in material but it's better than Katie forcing herself to make something she doesn't feel like making. Forcing comics about something has more potential to be 'lifeless', for the lack of a better word.

Like said, comic ideas thread would be the best option, best way for an artist to create something is giving them inspiration. That and a big bag of cheddar

I wonder how much of AZ's popularity is due to Smash Bros. comics being kinda-sorta comics about other games…

Zelda, Fire Emblem, Metroid, Super Mario Bros? Sure feels like she's mixing it up!

That said, I think the numbers of posts in the strip threads are informative, and I'm pretty sure she already knows. IIRC, when this started her stance was more of the "deal with it" variety.

I'll still check every day, simply because I have a list of comics I check every day, which is even easier to manage now that it's down to 57. I think a grand total of 1 of them updates 7 days a week, if you count reruns, but every day some update. Even if Metal Gear AZ strips don't count as updates, somebody else has something interesting on Metal Gear AZ days :J

The Comic Ideas thread is important because without it all the other threads would be flooded with people's comic ideas.

Well, yeah, all of this is true, but that doesn't change a lack in diversity in one of our favorite comic series. We aren't demanding that she mixes it up, simply voicing our opinions. Opinions that we'll have whether we pay or not. It's simple criticism. Whether it's valid or not is up to her.

I mean, we could always stop reading these comics en masse, but that helps no one.

Not that this is in any way a threat at all. We love this comic, enough to say "this is funny, but it's getting...eh". If it was that bad, we'd have left long ago.

Now I want to see snake showing up in a pokemon comic.
