No, you know what? I'm not doing this. "Hourly Comic Day" is self-explanatory.
No it isn't, it's a bunch of random doodles that have nothing to do with videogames. I would like it if someone explained what this is about, please.
Two things:
1) Very few things, and I'd go as far to say "nothing" is random. It is maybe non-sequitur as you were expecting video games and got something else. But if you actually paid attention to what was happening in those "random" doodles, you'd be able to, or rather should be able to, piece together the context.
2) Hourly - By the hour. Comic - The thing you're reading. Day - Implies an event. While the "why" wasn't self-explanatory (obscure event cartoonists happen to do maybe), the "what" clearly was. (The thing Katie did.) Even the very little Locke -did- mention should have tipped you off. It was information. Information that you could have used. Even though he implied he wasn't giving information, he was clearly lying.
That was technically three things, I'm just too stressed today to count right. I apologize for being rude.
And I think the point, or rather one of the points, of the event is to get people to draw without worrying too much about quality. Because improving requires doing. And quality assurance usually takes longer than an hour. As for why you wouldn't have seen it, I imagine cartoonists don't post them on their main site like Katie does. They might be on their tumblrs or twitters. If they exist at all.

People seem to forget to connect that engineers are nerds and nerds are children.
