If you held a single area for most of the match, then you were also doing it wrong.

I notice that this comic has no dialogue at all, and the only words inklings spoke in the last AZ Splatoon comic, were "No" and "Why". Intrigue ensues.

I might've gone through the trouble to edit the colour to a darker shade of red to hammer the point home but couldn't be bothered to do so

And so far the only things I've heard them say in-game that even resembles human speech is how it sounds like they say "Smoke weed" after you do a super jump.

Oh there's a ton of funny things they seem to be saying. When they pick up stuff in single player, the girl Inklings sound like they're saying "Fruity!".
