Not to mention the way Engy has a slanted jaw is really off-model, and it really doesn't look like Engineer if he didn't still have the hardhat and overalls. If I wanted cartoonish exaggerations, I'd expect it from the arms or necks, not the head.

Criticism isn't illegal. Calling anyone who respectfully disagrees with a single panel a strawman is equivalent to sticking your fingers in your ears and screaming for the hugbox police. If you actually had a counterargument, you'd've used it. Cori's defense was actually pretty solid despite the hole I shot through it.

Of course it's not illegal, I just don't think it's necessary (as do most of the people here). Cartoons exaggerate features to give emphasis to motion, emotion, and what have you. That's what Katie did to the Engineer. His chin is altered to match the slanted, overly-serious and apathetic frown. This exaggeration also lightens the picture's mood from what would otherwise be a rather cruel and cold comic.

He has his trademark clothes and equipment on, and everyone could tell from a glance it's the Engineer, even if it isn't exactly on-model. Personally, I do not believe that this exaggeration takes away appeal from the comic (and nor do I think him being more anatomically correct would add to it. If anything, it might even devalue it.)

Yes, it actually is in the lore. Demoman opened Merasmus's cursed book, causing his eye to be turned into Monoculus.
