I wonder how his head fell off at the end? Oh well, I guess they just don't make dogs the way they used to.

I remember I had him until the final Cathedral/Military Base missions. Because I wanted to get robes and sneak through the Cathedral and talk my way through it I had to get rid of Dogmeat or I wouldn't be able to fool them. I contemplated bringing him round back and doing an Ol' Yeller but I just couldn't. I did the Military Base first, where he managed to knock down two Super Mutants before being hit by a rocket, a rocket which also killed another Super Mutant. That means that Dogmeat killed a Super Mutant.

Actually, the only follower I lost was Ian. I save-scummed the rest to immortal statuses and left them waiting outside for some missions such as the last two (I like stealth). Ian died in Adytum when he ran out of bullets and decided to punch the Regulators in the face, and did that no matter how many times I reloaded a save.

Ian is in the Abbey in Fallout 2, if I recall correctly. :D

Yeah... Dogmeat's always been kinda worthless. On the other hand, the so-called "Worthless Mutt" you rescue from a puny gnome in Ashbury... that dog is incredible. I've never met another animal that was near as useful in endgame as that lovable pooch. Chews through weapon-breaking rock golems like nothing, and even gnaws apart greater fire elementals.

Actually, I kinda wish Arcanum had been picked up as a series more than Fallout. Sure, retro-50's futuristic post-nuclear America is nice, but it's just got too many super mutants, and not enough eldritch abominations.

That was the one thing in Arcanum I couldn't understand. The gnome is kicking that dog to death how exactly? The dog can kill just about every enemy by himself he's so strong so how is the gnome getting the better of him? The only enemy I recall the dog not being good against were those things in the ancient dwarf tunnels which tended to blunt weapons used on them.

As I recall, Dog was starving when you found him, having stolen the foolish gnome's lunch prior to said gnome having his miserable existence ended by the player character (or scared shitless, if you're feeling pacifistic). And the only reason those rock golems gave Dog trouble for you was because you didn't level grind him enough. After he gets enough levels to stop being squishy he just goes about wrecking ALL THE SHIT.

I have the smallest possible complaint: Vault 13 clothing doesn't appear in Fallout 3 at all.

We aren't talking about Fallout 3.

This is about Fallout 1. Where your player character comes from Vault 13.

It's still something that warrants comlaining about, although perhaps at a different target. *shakes fist at Bethesda*

So I take for granted that Dogmeat is useless?
