Any one else ever notice that the Pirates in Prime 1 look all badass and theones in Echoes look like giant crabs with Downs Syndrome and guns?
The only exception was this commando armor...and now they look like bunnies...
Yeah the later games had pretty shitty are compared to the debut, they lacked the 'magic' and coherence of the first. Aside from the goofier enemy designs (and the hilariously bad human models, yuck! Samus looked great in the first Prime) the environments got so much worse. Metroid Prime's world was awesome because it felt lived in, it felt ancient - it didn't feel like an obstacle course created by some game designer, the rooms felt like they had a purpose, there was infrastructure that made sense, like the heating system in the Chozo complex , etc. The later games lacked much of this polish, they're good games - just not as fucking amazing as the first Prime, which is in my book one of the best examples of why games can be art, its atmosphere is unequaled in my eyes.
Also, anyone remember what the animals at the end of Metroid:Fusion were called? A few of these looked rabbit-like iirc, I'm certain if the pirates noticed some similarities between their new armor and a cute critter, they'd see similarities between one of these Zebes natives, not an Earth-rabbit.
