I'm pretty sure thats how it went down....

Wario needed a doubles partner for Mario Tennis, so who did they pick? Instead of delving through the archives and finding an underused villain that nobody has heard of, they decided to stick a "Wa" in front of "Luigi" and create the biggest abominiation that's walked the earth since Birdo.

At some point in time, an evil counterpart to Luigi could have been a good idea, but not if they took Luigi, put him in purple, stretched him out, gave him a moustache like a silent film era villain and debuted him in a Tennis game. If it's the first time we've ever seen him, how are we supposed to know he's evil? Because of his backhand?

Just look at him. It's like they tried REALLY hard to make him look even more evil than Wario.

Since the WarioWare games have been out, Wario isn't so much a villain any more than a fat jerk. Waluigi on the other hand, could probably do a better job at being evil than Bowser if he would put his mind to it and stop playing sports.

If he really wanted to be an evil sportsman he'd be the referee.
