What are you talking about? If you actually understand the fundamental theory of calculus (which I know the Irish education system's equivalent of) then differentiation becomes so daisies easy you'll wonder why you never "got" it before... but you'll still leave out the c on your integrals.

Differential equations are not just derivatives. Its an equation where you have the derivative and the basic function together. For example:

f"(x) + f'(x) + f(x) = 0

Now there is a solution to that, usually the solution f(x) is e^x or sin/cos as the derivatives of those can loop around and equal themselves.

A great example of this is simple harmonic motion in physics.

The equation of motion for a simple harmonic oscillator is:
f"(x) + (omega^2)*f(x) = 0

The solution is f(x) = Acos(omega*t) + Bsin(omega*t) where A and B are constants which depend on the initial conditions and omega^2 = k/m where k is the spring constant and m is the mass.

Sorry for the lengthy explanation, I don't mean to sound like a pompous asshole.
