The thing about xkcd is that the guy really does have a substantial amount of people in his fanbase that actualy understand all of his jokes. I've seen them on his forum which is made up of the most brainy fuckwads in existance. They just...discuss things. Not a single non-sequitor in any of the threads. Regardless of this, the guy often jibes at the fact that no one will understand the jokes in the scroll-over text. I love the webcomic, but it has a VERY polarizing hit-or-miss vibe about it.

EDIT: Ctrl-alt-delete suks my cock and Tim Buckley should be sodomized with a cactus because he's an unlikeable twat.

EDIT 2: Page get a go go Baby!

So? Just because he acknowledges it doesn't make it less annoying. I hate checking the site all seeing that three new comics came out, none of which I can comprehend in the slightest because I'm just some foolish internet pleb. I get that a lot of people makes this stuff for themselves, but when you have a decent sized fan based it almost seems... unfair. Especially since I've bought merch from that dude, I sort of expect something I can enjoy. If that makes sense...
Because his fanbase grew bigger, he should only do "simple" jokes? Why? If you were one of the guys who understood and loved the math/science jokes, wouldn't you feel alienated?
You act like he's doing the comic just for you. He isn't. He doesn't owe you anything, even if you bought some of his stuff.

He makes the jokes he wants to, and if you can't understand them, too bad, move on.

I'm not saying he should do a comic just for me, I'm saying he's already been alienating a huge percentage of his viewers, and it's not like I'm on some huge crusade here, it's just a simple pet peeve of mine is all.

What really grinds MY gears is an amazing Webcomic that the author has decided not to gice a reason why he never updates. I guess this is actually just Patrick Alexander's Raymondo Person series. He just stopped making them out of the blue and never said why. This was after countless people donated cheddar to keep it going. I love Alexander, but that's pretty weak.

I don't see how. All of his jokes aren't hard to get ("I'm gluing captions to your cats"). Besides, it's not like he forced his viewers to read his comic: it's not the writer that choose his audience.

Seriously, you're just making a big deal out of it.

1. I never said all his jokes were hard to get, I wouldn't read the comic if all of them were advanced math, it's just when he randomly pulls out something you need a degree to understand, it just make you feel out of the loop.

2. I keep on trying to say, it isn't a big deal, it's a slight annoyance. That's why I'm posting it in a thread about alight annoyances.

XKCD is awesome. But don't tell anyone I said that, because apparently loving it makes people pretentious.

I like his comic.

it has genuine interesting characters and a well-developed plot.

What I hate is comics that have absolutely no evolution. The first comic is the same as the latest comic. At least CaD has a solid story line with recurring villains and plot-points.

I think people are just annoyed that he's not trying to be funny all the time, as opposed to his first comics, and then criticize him for not having a joke.

Who the fuck puts a miscarriage arc in a video games webcomic? And he fails at humour whenever he does try to make a joke

I fail to see the reasoning behind continuing the xkcd argument between two people after this post. Especially considering the two people who are still arguing seemed to have ignored it.
