Quit trying to preach. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's a bad game.
How is it taking advantage of loneliness? I'm sure people who play WoW socialize as much as anybody else.
And if it's a half baked fantasy setting, I challenge you to make a better one.

You're retarded.

Yeah, and I can't exactly explain anything clearly, so...

How was I preaching? In relative terms even, I was not.

Loneliness. People where I come from played to be social, and since there's a lot of socialism here, it doesn't happen.

And Draenei.

I still played for a year and I loved it. I also suffered for it because I was so addicted to a social aspect, because really, nobody likes grinding. It's the being with people which is ever-present in the game and somehow fails due to the regular communication errors now and again. I'm done with the game and now I look at this, and it just pisses me off. You shouldn't be trying to sell to people who aren't interested.

And really, they're still making so much cheddar, you think the staff would stay on the WoW team or do better work on it.

The quests suck at the beginning, I'll admit but they get better. It's no RPG that's for sure but it has it's moments later on.

I just think a statement like "the evil beast of WoW" deserves more of a reason than "Because you want me to like it." Honestly, I could care less about you liking the game.

It makes it seem like you only hate the game because it's popular and that's pretty sad. :/

:/ ...
Again. I'm not trying to make anyone automatically like the game, I really could care less about you liking it. I'm only asking why and if you actually played it.
Stop bashing games you haven't played. It's stupid and it won't make others stop playing it.

[edit] Is getting addicted to WoW honestly the game's fault? If you think about it clearly it's all a matter of self-control.

You don't know that people only go for the social aspect. That may be a big factor, but you can't universally label it.
And what do you mean "do better work on it"? As far as I'm concerned, what they've done is better work compared to a lot of other things.

That was more for comedy effect bro...

...but to be honest, the more somebody tries to force something onto me, the more incensed I become.

Wrong on all counts monkey boy.

I don't like it because of the questionable raw material the game provides for Katie's comics.

Oh look! This is a forum that discusses Katie's comics! Not WoW!

HOLY CRAP!

Also I've played grind-oriented online games before (specifically Phantasy Star Online - which was grind-heavy).

I guess I enjoyed it at the time, but looking back, I regret not spending the time I poured into PSO, into more creative/productive pursuits.

My view on this kind of game now, is that it is quite bodaciously, a waste of time. Combine that with the addictiveness factor and you have something which is potentially as damaging to somebody's life as alcoholism or taking drugs.

I don't want to go down the path of PSO/WoW again - I have too much I want to accomplish to afford/waste the time on these games.

I still play games fairly often - but I try to stick to short-burst games (even though I play Pokemon - but even that I can not play for weeks).

I know, tl;dr...

...but I've tried to explain the evils/dangers of these games, and hopefully the genuine concern I have for people that become gripped by these 'foul beasts' known as MMORPGs comes across.

Basically, the moral of the story is: 'You can do more with your lives than grind in WoW kids!'

Deep man! DEEP!

This is basically what I was trying to say, but I fail at speaking. I'd much rather stab you because I hate it when it sounds like you're trying to drag me back into the game, which is why I chose to be so hostile in the first place.

Nobody said you couldn't.

He didn't say you couldn't.

He asked me to explain why I referred to WoW as a 'foul beast'.

That's what I did.

In that case, I don't think people who play think that.

WoW is a phenomenal and well-constructed idea, but the application and instatement of said idea has ended in the creation of an out-of-control abomination we are better off without.

Akin to socialism.
Or Shelley's Frankenstein.

It's not out of control, it's not an abomination and how is it directly affecting you to the point where you want it gone. Shut up.

People complain about the WoW comics mostly because they don't play it and/or are prejudiced against WoW.

Anyone who seems to really dislike WoW is going to continue to support that and, gathering from what I've read in the past several pages of content, arguing with them is akin to feeding trolls. Ditto WoW supporters.

I'm hoping we can get the Awkward Zombie MMO to not be very grind-oriented. Hopefully Iconsting, I, and all the others working in the plot areas could make the game mostly plot and customization based, so that there is a lot of good plotline for every level so that you don't have to gain 10 more levels to progress in the plot, or at least that is what I would like to see. And I hope we can make the level-based areas a lot more clear so that you don't have to gain tens of levels just to prevent yourself from wandering even a little and dying, so that it isn't like KDW.

I'm hoping it doesn't morph to a "monstrous beast" (or just something boring and overly time-consuming), since it has my ideas in it.

I honestly don't like WoW because it's rather boring, actually. There isn't anything original about it, and due to the fact that it's basically just a race to get to level 70 (or 80 or whatever) it's also just too time consuming. Hence why I don't like WoW comics.

I play WoW.

I'm going clubbing tonight.

WoW =/= ruined social life.

On the other hand, I would like more Zelda/ Smash Bros comics, but the WoW ones aren't bad either.
