I just think a statement like "the evil beast of WoW" deserves more of a reason than "Because you want me to like it." Honestly, I could care less about you liking the game.
That was more for comedy effect bro...
...but to be honest, the more somebody tries to force something onto me, the more incensed I become.

It makes it seem like you only hate the game because it's popular and that's pretty sad. :/
Wrong on all counts monkey boy.
I don't like it because of the questionable raw material the game provides for Katie's comics.
Oh look! This is a forum that discusses Katie's comics! Not WoW!
HOLY CRAP!
Also I've played grind-oriented online games before (specifically Phantasy Star Online - which was grind-heavy).
I guess I enjoyed it at the time, but looking back, I regret not spending the time I poured into PSO, into more creative/productive pursuits.
My view on this kind of game now, is that it is quite bodaciously, a waste of time. Combine that with the addictiveness factor and you have something which is potentially as damaging to somebody's life as alcoholism or taking drugs.
I don't want to go down the path of PSO/WoW again - I have too much I want to accomplish to afford/waste the time on these games.
I still play games fairly often - but I try to stick to short-burst games (even though I play Pokemon - but even that I can not play for weeks).
I know, tl;dr...
...but I've tried to explain the evils/dangers of these games, and hopefully the genuine concern I have for people that become gripped by these 'foul beasts' known as MMORPGs comes across.
Basically, the moral of the story is:
'You can do more with your lives than grind in WoW kids!'
Deep man!
DEEP!
