I have been a fan of Akward Zombie for a while now and it has always treated me right.

My brother and I are trying to start a webcomic of our own. I was wondering if anyone had advice on how to undertake such an endevor?

Keep a consistent update schedule--one that won't be too much of a workload for you. A ton of webcomics promise updates every other day and they inevitably fall behind, whether due to real life interfering or simply losing motivation.

Also, a comic buffer would probably be useful. Katie has a buffer of about three or four finished comics, so she can still update if she doesn't get a chance to draw a new page.

Definitely buffer. How much of a buffer you can build will help give you an idea of how many updates a week you can manage.

If this is going to be a serious endeavor with an overarching plot line, make sure you get all of the story worked out before you even start drawing.
