Toot toot, here comes your spicy hot take on a game that came out two years ago!!

TO BE HONEST I REALLY ENJOYED YOOKA-LAYLEE AND I THINK THIS IS KIND OF UNFAIR, but everything I didn't like about the game felt like a conscious choice to include.
Yooka-Laylee

Too bad I never bothered to get Yooka-Laylee, would've been good to know how the game compares to the actual early 3D collectathons.

Anyway, Gamezone's two panels gave me the idea of Yooka and Laylee looking at a computer monitor:

Now with more Rextro:

Man I loved Yooka Laylee! Anyone who was calling it a bad game is full of crap; it was perfectly like Banjo-Kazooie! Even the menus were spot on!

That being said, I never did actually beat it; that last boss was a big pile of bulls***. For the most part it is just a proper challenging boss, but when he gets to those homing missiles that you can only rarely trick into hitting him, yeah, that was bullcrap right there.

Iremember all the hype there was about it before it released and when it did barely anyone talked about it anymore.

A little too spicy for me. I only played Banjo Kazooie once or twice.

Except "those" kinds of games are still being made all the time.

Just because you personally don't enjoy something doesn't mean it's bad.

Also, they aren't the mainstream games anymore because video games in general have had a drastic increased in the demographics they reach and video game companies try to pander to that bigger demographic which just so happens not to like classic styled games.
It's the same reason hollywood doesn't make movies like Citizen Kane and Casablance anymore and instead goes for endless bayformers and fast/furious sequels.

Its less so much as "they don't make them" and more that they don't advertise them to the same degree. Those "big summer blockbusters" get more budget for advertising than it would take to even make a Citizen Cane or Casablanca. And they kind of need that marketing to get enough people into the cinema to be able to make a profit.

But just because they are cycling more cheddar and attention doesn't mean they don't exist, nor that a more serious dramatization isn't profitable. Just that it doesn't have the same level of attention.

And it is the same thing with video games. Man I don't give a crap for any of these big-name titles coming out these days. But I love playing these indie metroidvanias. They are still being made, they just don't get advertised to the general public.

It's actually a bit weird to me that people hate Deus Ex 2: Invisible War but it was one of the first FPS games to add mantling and that didn't depend on painted ledges.

Something I *still don't see in some FPS games these days*

Story was alright too, gameplay was varied enough where you had morality but it wasn't a kind of overbearing morality system where you're either 100% angel or asshole.

Sometimes the games that had to work around hardware limitations managed to out-do modern day games -_-
