Metal Gear Solid games give you the option of non-lethally defeating boss characters, which is always much more difficult than the lethal option, but it doesn't ever actually impact the story, because the game always invents some reason for the boss to die anyway during a cutscene. (Sometimes the reason is just "and then Snake switched to a machine gun.")

Yeah. I'm kinda sick of Metal Gear.

To Katie's credit though, at least she's only doing them once every other week now, it seems, with other comics in between, which is ... better.

Still. It's a lot of Metal Gear. Mm.

Watchyou talkin' bout, Katie? They never "invent" a reason, they just die anyway, for no reason.
I remember when I went through MGS2 trying to no-kill my way through the game, the first time they *really* let you do. The Fatman battle sticks in my mind the most. It was so challenging and so frustrating, because the ONLY place you could hit him with a tranq dart was in his bald head. And after much struggle, I finally pull it off. Then the cutscene plays. And he starts bleeding from his chest. ANd I'm just sitting there screaming "WHAT? I shot that bastard in THE HEAD, with tranq darts!!" Okay, I get that he still dies even though I didn't kill him, but it kinda figured he would just slump over and die for no reason. It was just the most absurd thing ever that he was bleeding from his chest.
At least in MGS3 the bosses all just blew up,

*stops lurking for a moment*
This is gonna sound really dumb, but I'm getting sick of metal gear comics because of the color scheme. Every time I go to AZ and see only brown, black and military green, I groan. And it doesn't matter how funny the comic actually is. The color scheme somehow makes it less funny. But maybe that's because I associate those colors with metal gear now, and I'm officially bored to tears with these comics.

That probably sounds really childish, but I'm okay with that.
Katie! Please mix it up! And I don't mean every other week! Once a month, I could deal with, but seriously! This is nauseating.

...Pardon my whining. I just miss... basically everything that wasn't Metal Gear :(

*re-lurks*

I don't expect points for creativity - I expect everyone will think of doing something similar to this.

I'm getting sick of the forums because of people posting that they don't like the subject of the comics.

Eh, it only happens every other week. At least on this part.

In the original PS1 version, there were no tranq weapons, so I think the game expected you to go full lethal on the bosses back then.

Maybe you could've used stun grenades, but I don't think that was an option on certain bosses. Fairly sure there was no other way to beat wolf other than peppering her with sniper rounds or rockets.

There was an exact number of absolutely minimum kills you had to make in order to beat the game. And in order to get the highest ranking you could not get so much as one more kill than that.
You had to kill all the bosses, the invisible soldiers in the elevator, and the first three guards that rush in when you are escaping the prison cell. (All the others in that scene you have to let Meryl kill, which is really tough since she rarely shoots anyone.)

I was always in awe of that goal, but it always sounded like it would be too hard for me to achieve. I was pleased when I noticed in MGS2 that you could actually do a non-lethal take-down of every boss, and from then on I always tried to beat the game that way. Never *actually* succeeded until MGS4, though. Because MGS3 was a dirty cheating bastard that counted kills I made even though I died and reset.

I don't play this game so I don't get it. Why does it matter whether the boss is incapacitated or dies in a dramatic fashion during a cutscene? Is it a shiny achievement thing? I'm playing Final Fantasy XIV so I feel that I should understand hunting for meaningless shinies. :pseudo:

So this confirms that Katie has been playing Twin Snakes instead of the actual Metal Gear Solid.

I keep saying to myself that I don't mind the Metal Gear comics but I think they're some kind of proverbial evil worm in the back of my brain that hates them with a passion and grows stronger each time a new one is posted whether I like the comic itself or not.
I do like this one though.

... has Katie ever said if and when she'll be done with this type of comic? I'm just the slightest bit curious.

Also, do people usually take upwards of a dozen tranquilizer shots to knock unconscious? I thought those things were supposed to KO folks in one or two... though I truly have no clue and am just going off of assumption. I very well may be wrong.

I consider this complaints, not bitching and I'm totally alright with it. If the fans are tired of them, better if they say it than stay silent.
