Oh man... I need some editing software and a working keyboard...
The mushroom is some kind of reused video game idea, and the rock is an original video game idea. The magnetism is the fans saying they want original ideas, and the time between pickups is the passage of time.
Either I am giving the comic a twist and new meaning, or I am just lazy. *shrug*

To be honest, if I knew how to gif it into an infinite loop, I'd probably do it like that instead.

I had similar issue in Story of Seasons, usually an important item would be lying on the ground more or less on top of a weed. My character ALWAYS picks up the weed first.

I think A New Beginning had this issue as well, as they had the same engine. Though in Story of Seasons they actually made weeds useful that you can turn them into fertilizer.
