While I accept that this was made before it was easy to even know much about the characters that were being drawn and that once established, were more difficult to then change said characters; I think they should be changed regardless. In example of say marth, once now understanding the actual nature's of these characters it is an integral decision to then strive to implement an accuracy of sorts when portraying them. This is especially so when you had been mis-portraying them from the start. And so it then starts to dabble into the ways of terrible fan fiction where the characters are written for the writers pleasure rather than the readers enjoyment any thoughts on this? Such as with fox? Also, it makes for a strange scenario when you have an inconsistency where new characters are introduced and are accurate, while the old are still innacurate, despite being from the same series.

I kind'a like it the way things are. The way I see it, characters like Marth who have non-canon personalities generally only show that personality trait when they're in the Smash Bros.-related comics. So it's more like their off-the-clock behavior they pick up when they're not doing the stuff they're usually known for and just hanging around the Smash Apartment Complex.

Imagine meeting a clown outside of their makeup. They're usually not tossing explosive pies into people's faces, tying balloon dragon-bubble-pony-catapults and wearing goofy baggy polka-dotted green and purple pants at that point.

If they are, then you're endangering yourself by being near that person and should reevaluate your social decisions.

... I forgot what the clown metaphor has to do with my point, but my point is made!

Uh

Katie's the artist

So she can do what she wants.

Most people reading the comic like the portrayals of the characters.

In fact, have you been following this comic from the beginning? If you had been, you'd know that she addresses inconsistencies with characters.

For example, Marth seemed to be portrayed much differently in Smash Bros than his overly optimistic Fire Emblem self, so Katie went along with it.

Other than that, refer back to the top of this post

Oh, right. Someone made an edit in the comic edits topic that showed how similar Awkward Marth and Smash Marth are.

I honestly can't tell if OP is a bot or not based on their sentence structure.

A bot wouldn't know the characters of this webcomic.

Also, pretty sure this don't deserve its own topic, do it?

Yeah but marth only behaves how he always has in every game. In smash he's just really determined. He's never shown an air of pompousness. Also this marth does a disservice to marth as a character. He is some diva who's rather antisocial, where as actual marth has killed many people at the point of his sword, all in the sakebof saving his country from world domination. He's the hero king who was forced to mature quickly to save his own life and thousands of others. And I feel as if the artist doesn't quite understand that even when comparing the 2. Its almost slander in a way and I find it rather crude. Nintendo went to the effort of having good characters with compelling back stories that make up decent personality traits, and this artist has neglected to respect them for something more stereotypical and cliche. Its a bit of a peeve and not very integral.

I should add marth is the sort of fellow who has watched many of his comrades, family, and soldiers die; probably cried about it. He's also killed many people as I mentioned earlier. In cold blood for the sake of his country and his sister who he loves. He's not this diva, he's a hardened war hero, and has been through a lot of traumatizing stuff. Of course as a prince, he can keep that inside. And write it off as the cost of war and his country. "Yay teamwork". Doesn't describe him.

I'm a huge Marth fangirl and I hate when people make fun of or insult Marth, but I don't mind Katie's characterisation. Yes it is completely different from the real Marth (I've played through Shadow Dragon once, and I'm currently near the end of the New Mystery of the Emblem), but it's a funny way to look at him. While I would like if Katie changed him to be more accurate to his original version, I like her version too.

Bro its jokes. It's not intended to be an accurate portrayal of anything, just humour.

Time to shut down every webcomic that isn't full of OCs and only OCs, then. We must bow to the will of people who are offended by non-canon representation!

No but seriously, if it's that much of a problem you could just read a different comic.
