You mean the one where she bodaciously just spells out that that's the joke?

The punchline is that she has the freedom to take her time and do different things each day, or just screw around in general. Not like she's gonna starve if she doesn't get the crops in by winter.

However, because it's a game where managing your time means getting cheddar, Katie (like a lot of other players) prioritizes a clean routine schedule where the days blend together and there isn't a difference between a routine life in the city.

It's like having all the stuff to do in GTA and all you do is drive within the speed limit and pick up bread for your grandma.

Thank you, Captain Obvious.

Like I said, that's hardly anywhere close to a new observation. That's just how a lot of people play Harvest Moon. They set up their routines for the most practical ways of grinding out the days, and just keep playing that way until they either stop playing or something occurs to shake up their routines.

My problem is that Katie doesn't really make a joke. She just states the observation in the comic while restating it in her description. If she wanted to make a joke, it would make more sense to have the joke be something like, I don't know, complaining about a beneficial random event with no downsides eating into her schedule.

And if she really wanted to just stick with only doing the observation, it would've been easier to just do a 1-panel comic instead of adding two unnecessary panels to this one.

Katie has already done the joke you're thinking about, precisely with the game you're citing. That is not the same joke. The Harvest Moon one is about how repetitive and meaningless a micromanagement game becomes past a certain point when you're skilled and in control. The newest comic isn't about that, it's about players' tendency towards minmaxing which ends up making games meaningless routines despite the point of the game being the polar opposite. It's not just an observation, it's irony.

That is bodaciously the exact same joke.

And if she's already made this joke before, why the heck is she making it again?

Stardew Valley and Harvest Moon are not the same game. It's built upon the premise but expands to make itself its own thing. You can't make the "exact" same joke about both without missing the point of one or the other. Hell, with the community center, Stardew Valley encourages you to try a little bit of everything instead of sticking to the same tired routine.

Second, it isn't an observation. She isn't noticing that you're moving from one menial job to another. She is enforcing it. For her own amusement. Not because it's how the game wants to be played, or that it's the most effective way to be played, but because she is weird and makes her own fun in whatever way she feels like.

It's a comic on the internet that is drawn by someone who finds entertainment in performing pointless tasks in video games to then put them on paper with the hopes that other people may also find it amusing. Despite her space ship-building career, it's not exactly rocket science.

Looks like I walked in on an argument over semantics :>

Also about my idea:

1. I'm still busy :/
2. I had another one in the meantime. I know one of them is funny but I'm not quite sure which, so I am just gonna make both :>

Will come back later, hopefully with something good.

I don't know what all of you are looking at, but me and CaptionBot agree this comic is about two giraffes in a fenced in area. ...And I'm pretty sure Harvest Moon doesn't have any giraffes, let alone two.

Five-Minute edit (Thanks Loyle)

I like the idea that the whole first scene is just a horse with a cassette player and an elaborate paper-machê head.

(I don't know how to use Imgur imbeds so here's a link to my five-minute edit.)

Right-click the image, select "Copy Image Location" from the context menu, Paste into the message box and wrap in img tags

It should look like this:

And voila
