The problem is, the comic actually does work just fine. During one of the tapes Ocelot says he plans to use self hypnosis to make himself believe that Venom snake actually is the real Big Boss. It's hard to say when this kicks in but you could assume that he has some kind of trigger ready so that as soon as the real Big Boss is heading off to safety that he immediately believes he is now going to the aid of the real Big Boss when it is actually Venom Snake.
