Yeah but marth only behaves how he always has in every game. In smash he's just really determined. He's never shown an air of pompousness. Also this marth does a disservice to marth as a character. He is some diva who's rather antisocial, where as actual marth has killed many people at the point of his sword, all in the sakebof saving his country from world domination. He's the hero king who was forced to mature quickly to save his own life and thousands of others. And I feel as if the artist doesn't quite understand that even when comparing the 2. Its almost slander in a way and I find it rather crude. Nintendo went to the effort of having good characters with compelling back stories that make up decent personality traits, and this artist has neglected to respect them for something more stereotypical and cliche. Its a bit of a peeve and not very integral.
Since I've playing Awakening constantly I can now apply Awakening logic:

For all we know, the Marth from his games, the Marth in Smash, and the Marth in the comics could all be different Marths. Could be summoned from a time before his battles that made him the Hero King, could be an alternate timeline Marth, or it could even be an Einherjar card phantom portrayal of any of such things. Heck, in one of the DLC you fight Prince Marth AND King Marth (plus bodaciously dozens of other major/main characters) on the same map without anyone so much as looking twice.

And, it's like everyone else said......

There's nothing wrong with voicing your opinion on a webcomic. You don't have to tell people who criticize Awkward Zombie (pretty lightly too) to bugger off to another webcomic.

With all due respect, if Katie has already acknowledged that her portrayal is different from the canon version and yet still continues to write him the same way, then I doubt she's going to change him.

I'm not bothered because I'm completely canon-blind, and like MisterMusashi said, he might not even be the same Marth. Of all the canons that are in Smash, I know only three characters off the top of my head whose canons showed inter-galactic travel, and considering all of the characters come from very different places, and usually different planets, if not at least different versions of the same planet, how likely do you think it is each one of them is "the original"? Hell, the Olimar and Pikmin in Smash are not even remotely as small as the ones depicted in the game.

True, but the nature of his complaints suggests that this might not be the comic for him. Or her.

Complaining that Katie isn't being true to the source character (as if parody caricatures don't exist anywhere else) when she not only openly admits to not trying too, but does so equally for every character in this comic, suggest that this possibly isn't the comic for him.

If this were any other site, he'd be ridiculed, but thankfully, this is a mature place where we can get our Nowi edits.

I don't see any problem with Katie having her own concept of Marth. I think it's true that we all have our own vision of the character we like; E.G. Link might mean one thing to you and another to me. There's nothing bad about that.

Pretty much. I like writing my own chivalrous, tenacious, occasionally sarcastic Marth, but at the same time I love Katie's lovably narcissistic Marth and I'd be lying if I said her Marth didn't influence mine very often.
