Isn't Subrosia just underground, rather than being a parallel world? It's got the lower floors of the tower(s) of seasons there.

If you consider the pirate ship, which is half in Holodrum, half in Subrosia, but submerged in the ground in both worlds, it's more of an "upside-down, glued to the bottom" world. They even got the hearts upside-down in the shops! I'm not sure how well the temple of seasons works with the upside-down idea, though...
You do, however, reach subrosia by portals, so I'm pretty sure the system displayed in the comic would still apply ;)

So for some reason this popped into my head.

Which totally reminded me that Katie's never done a Sonic comic.
Though I'm sure all the jokes are overused.
Or perhaps she never played many sonic games. Though the fanbase is extremely neurotic, I thought the games were enjoyable.

Isn't Sonic getting a makeover? I seem to remember that from somewhere.

Yep. Sonic Boom's coming out soon. I'm excited. Not only do we get a cartoon, we get a few new games that HOPEFULLY won't suck.
*A few months later*
"Craaaaaaaaaaap"

Also, good Robotnik edit.
Made me go snrrrrk.

Possibly a stupid question: which character/alternate world is that in the seventh panel? (the one that reminded you of Robotnik)

It's the Silent Realm (Sairen no Sekai in Japanese) from Skyward Sword. It's an aera similar to Hyrule but with less colors and more shiny, when Link must collect the Sacred Tears by avoiding beeing catched by the Gardians. The character in the comic is one of the Gardians.

I'm bored right now, so I'm going to give you a wall of text.

That realm is called the Silent Realm form Skyward Sword. After you've completed the main three areas (Faron Woods, Eldin Volcano and Lanayru Desert) you must contact three dragons wich are located in said areas. To do this, Link must obtain three new items, wich will allow him to travel to a new part of each area. to obtain those items, Link must travel to the Silent Realm. In this realm, he must collect 15 Sacred Tears.
Link starts his search for the Tears in a tiny circle. Leaving it will cause all gaurdians to go apeshit on you. One attack, and you have to start all over again. You have no sword, shield or any other items to protect you. And no Fi*. In each area, there is a special Guardian (the one in the comic). unlike normal Guardians, who walk towards you, this one floats through walls and scares the crap out of you.
Picking up one of the Tears will calm the Guardians' down for a limited time. In the Silent Realm, there are also Light Fruits. Picking one of these up will make every Tear shoot a ray of light upward for a limited time.
There is another enemie in the Silent Realm, called the watcher. These patroll the realm and do not attack you, but instead they come after you with their lantern. Coming into the range of these lanterns will cause every guardian to hunt you down like a bunny.
The last thing to note about the Silent Realm, is that it is scary as fuck. It stopped me from playing Skyward Sword for 6 months. I sometimes think about replaying the game, but then I think about the horrors of the Silent Realm.

* You might say no Fi is a good thing, but I loved her (it?). Yes, she won't shut up about your Wii remote's batteries, but she was very useful in identifying enemies and telling me about them. I was very sad when she had to leave.

I like typing.

The oracle games are my favourite zelda games, and of seasons, subrosia was my favourite part of the game. The mechanics of the pirate ship buried there and on the normal beach, and what that means for subrosia, has always beena mystery to me, and I just put it down to magic.

Subrosia being the underside of the ground totally makes sense though, it also explains why despite being in the northwest surfacewise, the temple appears in northeast subrosia, things must be flipped as well as upside down.
