His official name is Mark.
His official fan name is Jack, for most; Yet in the case of AWL it's Pete...or Tony. Dunno why. I guess because the official name of the female main in AnWL is Pony?
His official in game name is whatever the hell you choose; You get to name your farmer, along with just about everything else.
Basically if you wanna go with Joe, you can, but there are "official" names out there.

Or it could be she's in a game about FARMING so the name PONY fits perfectly...

Or maybe her name wasn't originally Pony but she nagged her parents so much for her own that they got her a "birthday present" of a legal notice saying her name is now legally changed to Pony, so she is her own pony and can stop nagging her parents.
