So, AZ; What is your job? Where do you work? Are you looking for a job or have you had one for the past 10 years? Do you have advice for those who are job-hunting? Or perhaps you have advice for those with the same job as yours? Here's the place to share all job-related experiences, advice, complaints, rants, suggestions, recommendations, and just general job-talk. Something about your job driving you crazy? Put it here. Want to share your quest to find a job? We'll take that too. Maybe you just have an awesome job and want the world to know about it; bathe us in your great fortune. Whatever it is, if it's job-related, you can rest assured talk about it here. So let's kick this off.

Went out today and searched around for some jobs. Found 4 places with a "Now Hiring" sign:

  1. A local chicken place similar to KFC only not fast food
  2. Party City
  3. Subway (Runes if I get this I need your sandwich wisdom)
  4. Office Depot

And checked out two places without: Albertson's and the US Post Office. I considered seeing if the city library had any positions, but decided against it for unknown reasons. Anyone have any recommendations for a decently paying job at entry level? I have a high school degree, and haven't gone to college yet. Looking for something full-time, but I'll take any timeframe if it pays at least as well as full-time.

Every job I've had throughout my life has come by way of family or friend. I'm lucky in that I've never had to go out and find one for myself. This irritates me.

I started off getting a job because of my friends being there, but once I get the interview, everyone loves me.
To get some of the better jobs when starting off, you better hope you have a friend working in some place hiring, but you still need to be professional and try your hardest every single day. That is how you move up in life, never settling for what you have, always striving for better.

No you don't. Your entire life's worth is decided by how many Game Informer subscriptions you sell if you work there.

I work in Electronics at Target, I pretty much run things when my manager isn't there now. It is very stressful, draining, and I hate it but I wouldn't really know where to go otherwise since Targets an actually okay place to work (minus that Targets generally run on skeleton crew level of staffing). I just get irrationally angry at people who, in the year 2012, don't know how the most basic pieces of electronic devices or accessories work.
Coming up on two years, hoping to get a Team Lead position so I can get a somewhat decent paycheck.

Much as I hate it, I could have definitely done worse.

Page at the Corona Public Library. Volunteering helped immensely, all I had to do was work my booty off and make a name for myself. If you have no work experience volunteer for something. Disneyland's hiring too, three of my chums have gotten jobs there recently.

Also I guess I should say what my job is.
I am currently a Shift Manager at Wendy's... for three more days. Then, after a short vacation, I am going to be a Needle Assembler at Cook Inc.
It is basically the best job ever.

I am currently unemployed.

My previous jobs were:

1. Quality control at a cherry packing plant. It was pretty much the worst job ever.

2. Internship at a naval base. It was pretty much the best job ever.

sounds better than having my entire worth decided on five different sets of metrics I have to get, including a stupid credit card and batteries

My current (and first) job is a part-time student assistant at one of the university libraries. Basically I work the desk, check out people's books, shelve stuff, tell folks where the bathroom is, etc. It's technically a work-study job, but the cheddar goes straight to me since the library pays my salary out-of-pocket. I honestly don't know how it works, but I get paid so I don't really question it.

It's actually a pretty nice job, it's really quiet most of the time so I just sit and do homework (read: waste time on the internet) in my downtime, and its not hard or anything, plus the supervisors are pretty chill. It's not a whole lot of cheddar, but I work enough hours to cover the bills that my parents aren't covering.

Work at library

So would you recommend working at a library? My friend worked as a book shelver and he wasn't really upset with it even though there were some annoying parts, but generally it was okay. I'd like to think I'd enjoy the quiet, rather laid-back style of working at the library, but I also want to earn a living because I'm slated to move out next January or February.
