actually it just rips off the simpsons rather often, but the jokes it makes itself can be funny. and stupid.

I'm a huge Family Guy fan...and this episode was...not funny.
I liked the Music in the Death Star Elevator...
I hate Herbert - that paedophile needs to die, and that song was totally not needed.
The episode was good for nostalgia though, And gets over 9000 bonus points for:
Coach McGuirk

He's one of my favourite characters, in one of my favourite shows (Home Movies) and he's seen sitting at the back of the bar scene where they first meet Han Solo.
My jaw just dropped when I saw him!

EDIT: Oh, and I loved the bit at the end, with the Robot Chicken discussion, with Seth Green (who voices Chris) with split loyalties.

Are you all seriously discussing whether Family Guy is funny or not? This coming from the same people who bash CAD on a daily basis?

Family Guy is the CAD of TV. If you don't realize this, talk to the guys who make South Park. They hate the show with a passion. You should know from that episode all about Family Guy being written by manitees.

And if you're confused, I like both Family Guy and CAD, but I'm aware of how hated and stupid they are at times.

I like family Guy because it has it's occasional moments that make me burst out laughing. Like the Doctor Who thing I mentioned earlier, or the utterly pointless but awesome recurring Peter vs. Chicken fights.

In truth, it's the references that keep me going back. I'll see an obscure reference from time to time and then feel good for getting it. >.>

I love Family Guy because it makes remote sense, unlike most cartoons now-a-days that follow no plot and are so creepy, but everyone eats them up.

Like StarSeed pointed out, FAMILY GUY IS WRITTEN BY MANATEES.
I started thinking about how many non-sequiturs and obscure references there are (especially in the movie... MY GOD) and how short the show would be if every episode only had jokes related to the plot.
I'm talking a couple minutes or so.

Also, I'm retarded. What is CAD?
