I must be blind because I couldn't find a real music thread ("what are you currently listening to" doesn't really count).

SO TIME TO TURN THE VOLUME UP TO ELEVEN!

Is there a band you want to boast about? A great song you want to discuss about? Wanna verbally shove a music genre to the place where sun doesn't shine? THEN THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU!

Well, as stated in the introduction topic, my TOP5 favorite bands are Sonata Arctica, Apocalyptica, Poets of the Fall, Muse and Edguy, three of them being metal bands and two being alternative rock. Other bands I love include Avantasia, Machinae Supremacy, Stam1na, Rise Against, Pendulum, Escape the Fate and Sum 41. (Metal: 3, Punk: 2, Post-Hardcore: 1, Drum 'n Bass: 1).

If you like vidya music and metal (or rock) you really should try out Machinae Supremacy. They play metal songs and use the SID chip of Commodore 64 in many of their songs. And they also sing about vidya. Actually, why don't you just have a taste:
Throttle And Mask
Need For Steve
Crouching Camper Hidden Sniper
Through The Looking Glass (my current ringtone and one of my favorite songs from them)

Sooooo, I'd like some opinions on my music taste and stuff, to get the conversation going.
Link to my Last.fm profile.

(also I hope there wasn't a thread like this before....)

I'm lucky.

If I ever need music for my projects, one of my friends agreed to make music for me.

Here's a taste of what she can do.

While there are certain genres that I would consider my favourites, I generally listen to a range of things because I like variety. : P I have all sorts on my iPod, ranging from 70s Disco to Power Metal to Classical to Electronica to 50s Swing to remixes of old video game music to Reggae and that's not even all of it. :psyduck: It's a bit of a mishmash really.

Some of my favourite bands though have to be the Beatles, Electric Light Orchestra, Dragonforce (yes i like them leave me alone ;-;) and Fleet Foxes. My favourite composers are definitely Vangelis and Ludovico Einaudi (who does some really nice piano pieces). :>

Oh hey I have listened to them, got their album "Time" on my computer and I love it. I also think that my mother owns the LP version of the album. Their music is really relaxing, I've put most of the album on my "Calming stuff" playlist, which I listen to before going to bed and when I'm anxious/depressed.

Oooh yes, I love "Time", especially "Here is the News". : D

I found a pretty cool compilation remix of sorts on Youtube a little while back, which uses the awesome drums from "Don't Bring Me Down", which is here. Because of it I haven't been able to stop listening to "Calling America" recently. >.>

My favorite songs from Time are Julie Don't Live Here Anymore and Yours Truly, 2095.
Actually, to tell you the truth, I haven't listened to any other album from ELO  Maybe I should.
Also: I usually don't listen to remixes, somehow I just doesn't feel right :S Only video game song remixes, they're awesome! (especially Metroid Metal).

Indeeeed. :> I quite like "Out of the Blue", which has the ever-awesome "Mr. Blue Sky" on it, and "On the Third Day", which has a pretty cool rendition of "In the Hall of the Mountain King".

And it's not really a proper remix, it's mostly a compilation of a bunch of songs to the drumbeat of another of their songs. : P

Hmm.... Maybe I should trick my mom into buying the cds because she too has been a fan of theirs since like... the eighties? I remember her telling that she got "Time" on the day of it's release so...
And yeah, but I don't really listen to remixes in general.... I usually stick to the original songs and covers.

YOU CALL THAT "IN THE HALL OF THE MOUNTAIN KING"? YOU HAVEN'T HEARD "IN THE HALL OF THE MOUNTAIN KING!"
(okay it was good, actually)
