If you could be a part of any civilization in human history, which would you want to be. This is assuming that:
-your going back doesn't affect the flow of history
-you can choose which class you are in
-you can choose whether or not to keep your memories from present day for comparison purposes.

Also, if you would like to live in the future, would you want something similar to existing fictional civilizations like the ones in Star Trek, Firefly, or other sci fi works?

I would love to be part of a Native American tribe prior to the conquest of the new world. Something about a simpler life and being closer to nature makes it attractive. Also, hunting with nothing but a spear and manliness seems awesome. I would not want to remember the present day, though.
