Now I want to format my computer, problem is I bought it pre-made with Vista already installed on it. When you format your computer, does the OS stay on there, or would I have to go and buy a new version of it?

OS goes if you format, I believe.

It does go you should put any files you want to keep on DVD/CD/USBs
if you did buy it with Vista on it then you should of recieved a CD with it that contains the Vista OS and all the basic files/features on it. I think...
