I dont understand why everyone gets hyped over social networking sites they all do the same thing so who cares.

But in all honesty I think that it will be the undoing of western culture. What with our Facebooks, Myspaces, Livejournals, emails, and forums this will just destroy us by wasting what little time we have left!

Also why are we the western culture? I mean the worlds round so how could they decide that Europe/Africa is eastern and the Americas are western.

because people used to think the earth was flat so when they imagined the world since the pilgrims went west to get to the americas and such they called it the western culture.

Unfortunetly I wasn't being sarcastic I just had a brain fart and forgot about that obvious explanatory detail. And yes what you said made sense.

No one really uses it as a social networking site, And steam is for video games while i admit a large part of it is social networking its not as much as myspace,or facebook,or twitter so i would'nt really count it as one but whatever.

Skype IS a social network, it's video phoning and IM texting on the internet!
DA is quite social, everyone who goes there knows that.
And Steam's social is small and unimportant I'll admit, but groups can be made (we have one for AZ) and events can be planned, and there IS catting and texting to see if your friends want to play what you're playing.
But ultimately, it isn't as big as the others like you said.

I don't believe it will make success. Not with all the stuff that is already out there that makes similar things, separately or not.
