Fail, you are not.
Tim Burton has a new movie coming out called "9". Disney is FINALLY going back to their 2-D tradition of movies with their new animated film "The Frog Princess". I'm SO VERY excited for it. : DDDD
I try.
I've seen trailer for that movie! I'm pretty excited about it. I believe Tim Burton is the producer? And while I'm extraordinarily pop flyin' about Disney going back to 2-D animation,
there's still stuff for me to be angry about.I think it's a bit ridiculous. While I'm not sure the prince is supposed to be black, he certainly doesn't look white to me. Disney kind of has a stock look for princes and princesses, but Naveen has a broader nose than I've seen on any white prince; really, his overall facial bone structure is different. I think it's more offensive to insinuate that black people with lighter skin aren't "black enough". /rant
A lot of mothers have given backlash at Disney for this, especially black ones.
Personally, I don't think this shows something against black people at all. If you notice in Poctanosm, her love interest was with a white male and not the man her father wanted her to marry, Kocoum, who was also the same race as she was. John Smith was an overall good person, while Kocoum was a very serious and bitter like person. I think a good message from that it's more important to look at the person's personality and not their outside appearance or race. Colorblind Love.
Although you could get the idea that Disney was trying to show that White men are the better choice for women of any race. But, should it really be taken that seriously?
I like the idea of an interracial couple. It shows to children to just be colorblind when it comes to love. Disney has made much more white couples than colored ones, but this is still the right step in the right direction. Also, the prince doesn't even look entirely white. He has a slight Latin look to his facial features. Maybe Disney could darken him up a bit, but overall, I think they did a pretty ohk job.
There's a few controversial things to this film, but people are taking things a bit too far. Tiana's voice actress says herself to look past the color and look at the characters themselves.
If the prince is a total booty, then will I have something negative to say about this.
