I vaguely remember a thread similar to this, but I can't find it! So, here goes...something.
Anyway, we all have those moments in our day to day life where we think of something stupid we've done in the past (or very recently, which is still technically the past, but it's the more recent past), and you get that moment of feeling that makes you wish you didn't exist. So this thread is to share those memories so that we can all cringe and laugh at each other's (in good fun obviously) miseries. I've got lots of them! But I'll start with just one for now.
In middle school, there was a talent show coming up and I had just bought a guitar about 3 weeks prior, so I figured I would sign up for it. After spending a few hours on youtube trying to pick out a song, I decided to play "Heart Shaped Box" by Nirvana. I also tend to procrastinate a lot, so I ended up not really practicing that much. So, there I was, one day before the show and I still only just barely knew the intro to the song and kept hitting the wrong strings. Well, I have too much pride to just back out of things, so I went with it and decided "It'll come to me when I play it in front of people" and went on stage the next day. Well, it didn't come to me and I ended up sucking really badly. My guitar was out of tune, my hands were shaking, and I didn't even really know how to play the song. So I got up there, kinda played the intro, went through the chorus like once, messed up and wanted to leave but the music teacher insisted I finished, so I just kinda sat there for a bit and played the intro again and left. I think the worst was that everyone was basically obligated to clap at the end of each performance, so I got applauded for sucking and that was embarrassing.
My only saving grace is that no one seems to remember it now and even my close friends don't ever say anything about it unless I bring it up. Also, I can actually play guitar at an okay level now so there's that.
