What do you think I could get away with wearing at work? (Technically volunteering, but whatever.) Or what is just more "public appropriate"?

Something like this?

Or something like this?

Or maybe even both of those at once? As in, an O-ring choker with gems on it?

Or is my current "necklace" (it's a collar, but this new one I'd be getting is a choker) fine?
Image

It'd be white on the outside, teal on the inside, and it'd close at the back via snaps, like on leather bracelets. (Unlike my collar, which you can see closes via a black buckle.)

If I got the gems, they would either be entirely aquamarine or a rainbow of the cold colours.

If I got the O-ring, it'd be so I could attach things to it if I wanted, like maybe a bell or my keys. (And no, I'd never be wearing a bell or my keys around my neck to work. I'm weird but I'm not brain dead.)

I'm a freak and have no idea which would draw the least attention, so yeah, help me out please. And if it makes any difference, I'm volunteering at the SPCA. If the masses say none of those is acceptable, then I'll be going bare necked, which I guess could save me the trouble, but I feel naked when my neck is exposed. (And unfortunately, I don't have a turtleneck to wear everyday.)

I think a collar would be fine, a bell might be a bit much, but nothing they could really object too. The upstanding member of society thing will raise eyebrows, so just say you thought it was cute if they do.

I haven't worn the bell out of the house. It's too big to go unnoticed, so I only wear it around the house, and even then I usually take it off when it starts to get annoying. AND IT'S NOT LIKE I'M SHOWING UP WITH CAT EARS AND MY SKETCHBOOK IN HAND. >8U It's not obvious I'm upstanding member of society in person, and I doubt the kindly old woman behind the counter at the SPCA would automatically go "Hm, upstanding member of society" because I have a collar. XD

The black one from the second link is the one I'd go with... if I was a girl and wore collars, which I ain't.

Mine's going to be white, but other than that, it would look like those ones. Thanks for the input.

I guess it depends on what you're doing. If you're fielding calls, doing data entry, or something like that, either should be fine, but if you're at the front desk or whatever dealing with people face-to-face, your best bet would be neither/

On my forms I signed up for cleaning kennels and such, doing laundry and dishes, walking the dogs, and doing some yard work, so unless they ask me to do more, I won't be dealing with anyone face-to-face. I was going to sign up to work the front desk though, but because I'm inexperienced I left it blank. It's something to think about though, thank you. =)

Studded collar with a bell on it.

:]

Wait, I change my mind. Looking at the poll options, I choose "Nothing"!

:awesome:

Unfortunately, this is going to be custom-made, so none of them come with names, unless you come up with your own name for your design.

... I could get letters on it that say "Respectable Businessman" though. I doubt anyone would appreciate that though.

I'd say any of those would work, really, especially if you are not going to be working with people face-to-face a lot. So yeah, whatever is fine.

That's where a problem begins to arise though, because I eventually would like to work with people, especially if I was still volunteering at the SPCA and could help people decide if they're ready to adopt an animal.

I get terrible tongue-tied around strangers though, so maybe I never will. :psyduck:

DO IT.

Also, I think either one would be fine, unless people are really conservative about that kind of thing where you live. In which case I'd still say it's fine, but at that point it's merely due to my love of being the devil's advocate. >.>
