So, here's my theory to prove that "mother earth" isn't just a label...
human history, though it's been short, is like a woman's menstruation cycle:
There's a period of peace. and then lots of bloodshed, followed by a period of peace, followed by tons of blood again. There's human history for ya.

The unfortunately flaw in your theory is that we have peace. :\

That's the flaw, we don't have peace on Earth. Ever.

That is the most uniquely disturbing and horrifying view on human history that I've ever heard.

Don't ever say it again.

Your point is moot; there's too many people with different definitions of peace.

The term "mother earth" exists because some early peoples believed that the earth was a living entity, or god, if you will, that created them. Simple as that.

Give me one single moment in human history where there has NOT been war in ANY place on the planet. There is always conflict.

What do you mean by war, though? Lots of people with guns killing each other? There's plenty of places where that hasn't happened. My backyard, right now, for instance. It's myopic to say that the entire world is in a constant state of destruction.

But there's always bloodshed! Seriously, you don't want to know how many living things die each second.

ah, but does dying fit into the category of bloodshed? a 95 year old woman that dies of old age in her sleep is death, but i wouldn't call that bloodshed.
Also, while its true there has always been conflict, has there always been "war"? people get into arguments over small things all the time, and that's conflict, but do we call an argument over what channel to watch on TV war?

Maybe mother's earth's menstrual cycle is severly slowed down. In about ten thousand more years, the bleeding will stop, but everything will be dead.

Human's are mother nature's menstrual cramps.
