"I don't know." Diana shrugs. "If it wasn't for the lock picks gone, I wouldn't have left in the first place."
"But, if someone wanted someone else dead, someone unrelated to all of this, it's what they got." She's avoiding eye contact with everyone. At this point, she looks resigned.
Her head shoots up sharply, gazing straight at Pierce. "Even after I tried...looks like I couldn't cover it up well enough, huh...?" The corner of Diana's mouth curls up, her eyes glazing over at she looks at each and every animal in the circle.
"Guess it's time to fess up. I killed him. But...it wasn't on purpose. I wanted to run away, to forget everything that happened last night." Her voice is shaky as she recounts the events. "He didn't want that to happen. He cornered me at the Re-Tail, grabbed my arm and told me, 'please understand', like..l-like he thought I'd just let him do it...Believe me, I tried to reason with him! I guess with a knife lodged in your eye your judgement is a little skewed. I could've helped him, if he would've just let go of me! I told him if he killed me there, he would've been found guilty! I don't know if anything was going through his mind other than killing me. So, in my last decision, I took the knife so he wouldn't be able to use it against me. That's when he let go of me, I thought everything would be fine until he hit the ground.
"I know this won't change anything...just understand I wasn't out to kill last night! I didn't want that to happen at all..." Diana takes a deep breath, and digs in her pockets for a few moments. Picking up the item, she throws it in an underhanded toss to Whitney. "I was gonna make something cool with that too, hrm. Maybe you can make good use of it or something. Oh, and try to find those lockpicks too, alright?"
She gives a small smile, holding her hands behind her back. "...I'm sorry."
So you're admitting to it? You have seemed suspicious from the start. But you said yourself it was unlikely you could overpower him. How could you have taken the knife? How do we know you're not covering for your friend and sending us all to our deaths?

Diana gives a skeptical glance at Joe. "I doubt it...I mean, Nook just showed up straight out of nowhere after Bud fell to announce to me that I was in fact, the first murderer."

Pierce has been suspicious of me for a while, and has even been snooping around my house.
His house is also directly across the river from my own.
If he had been suspicious of me as he says, is it not unreasonable that would have been monitoring my house?
While he had been doing that, he would have seen the fight between me and Bud take place.
So, he went outside to intervene in our fight, but then witnessed me being the victor of the fight, and running off.
Then, Bud got up and started running around town with a knife in his eye!
Pierce, seeing that Bud was distraught and not in the best state of mind, decided to keep a good distance away from him, while at the same time follow him.
He then witnessed Diana pushing Bud onto the concrete, and later dragging him back to the riverbank.
Bud then went to the scene, inspecting the corpse, thinking he would have an easy time of things knowing who the culprit was...
When he came upon a surprising conclusion: That Bud was still alive!
And so, he dragged Bud's corpse away from the riverbank, erasing Diana's hoofprints in the process, and stowed his body away somewhere.
Then, he went to Whitney's house to bring her along on a wild goose chase near my house!
The point of it being: make Whitney remember the lack of a dead body!
Once Whitney was back home, he got Bud's body, did some heavy lifting flying it over to the riverbank...
And dropped it onto the riverbank, killing Bud in the process."

"Shut up, Joe!" Diana hollered at the bird. "What are you doing?! What reason would I have to put this in detail if I wasn't actually the person that did this?" She gave him an incredulous look. "Just...make it easier on yourself. Let it go. I can't see why you're doing this since it's not your life on the line."
