A group trying to build a human powered helicopter

If this is for real, then it is very impressive. Anyone able to fact check?

Map over cyber attacks

A very interesting project! Red dots are attackers. Yellow dots are honeypots. Honeypots are servers that fake services to attract attackers. When the attackers attempt to get into the system, the server reports data about the attempt to a master server and the map shows attacks as a live feed.

Russia strong!

So someone wanted to find out if people are looking at other people's faces or their eyes when trying to figure out stuff. Which is kinda hard to do when the eyes are in the middle of the face. So when he talked about that during dinner his son told him to use the DnD monster manual instead of actual people.

He's not the greatest public speaker. But daisies does he do a nice bit of explaining the universe.

*late comment*

I keep watching this thing and moving and clicking the mouse around waiting for something to happen, but nothing ever does.

The Geminid meteor shower is supposed to peak tonight, between 2 and 3 A.M. Gemini is close to Orion's shoulder (Betelgeuse) so look for Orion and the meteors should be nearby.

I don't really get it. What makes them think energy signatures in their simulation matching energy signatures in the universe proves? It only makes sense that a simulated universe made in our universe would be under either the same physical laws or completely different ones, depending on the goal of the one simulating it.
In the end the answer will be just the same as now "We have no idea."

The thing is that article is obviously a huge simplification that tells us nothing about the actual experiment, except this
Quote:
Using the historical development of lattice gauge theory technology as a guide, we assume that our universe is an early numerical simulation with unimproved Wilson fermion discretization and investigate potentially-observable consequences.

But I have no clue what that means and I assume you guys don't either.

It's stuff like this that makes me wish I knew more and could understand things like this.
