Zomcom, you say?

I wasn't aware it was a genre outside of Shaun of the Dead. I must investigate.

Anyways, I've been spending the past few days ravaging the internet for the song, "Kansas City Shuffle", otherwise known as, "That one at the end of Lucky Number Slevin, with the guy in the car and the radio and it's awesome yeah". Well, yesterday, I found J.Ralph's website, which includes all of his works (which encompasses KCS). This guy's now one of my musical idols.

Me and my friend were simultaneous watching Corpse Bride today and started discussing it. Thought I'd bring it here since our discussion was pretty too and this place could only make it better.

I thought it was a good movie. Not great, but not bad. Since it came from the man behind The Nightmare Before Christmas, I was expecting a bit more, but it was a nice little tale. My major problem with it was the thing that really started the whole plot; When Victor 'proposes' to Emily. I thought the idea of him mistaking her hand for a twig and putting the ring on it to be kind of weak. I could see him doing that, but... it just seemed really stupid to me. But without it, I can't really think of another way they'd bring it up.

When I first saw the previews, I thought his wife had died and come back from the dead. I was really excited to see it, but I was way off. Maybe that's why I was disappointed.

Corpse Bride was a serious disappointment. I really hated how the Corpse Bride's entire back story was explained in a lame, 2 minute long or so song. I really had high hopes for that movie...

I couldn't pay attention to anything that was going on in the movie because the main character's feet were too small.

:colbert:

I actually did like his character design (and most of the other characters'), but he had this giant bobblehead on a stick figure body and then his feet were the size of Dixie cups. Watching him run and stuff was completely unconvincing.

Okay, I saw Little Miss Sunshine a couple weeks ago.

I didn't really have high hopes for this movie. It just looked like some silly, feel-good movie. Ebert and Roeper gave it two thumbs up, but when do I ever agree with them?

One day, my mom was watching it while I was online. I kept glancing over and eventually stopped intarwebbing to finish the movie. Unfortunately, my dad had the DVR set to record something else about halfway through, so I was forced to watch the rest another time. When I finally did, it became one of my new favorite movies.

Heartwarming at parts, downright hilarious at others, this movie felt to me like the original Vacation, but with lolis. The icing on the cake was the fact that it had not one, but TWO Sufjan Stevens songs. (if you can't tell, I love Sufjan Stevens) I highly recommend it.

All the characters were deformed, that was just the stylistic nature.

But even with stylized things, you have to adhere to basic anatomy rules. A really good character can be weird but still believable.

Which should I watch first, The Science of Sleep, Kill Bill 1, The Big Lebowski, Jackie Brown, or Fargo?

Science of Sleep, Kill Bill, The Big Lebowski, Fargo, and Jackie Brown. In that order.

Jackie Brown is a pretty weak film. Fargo and The Big Lebowski could be switched around though.

Ahem. Yeah. Now I have to see that movie. I remember hearing that is was actually nominated for best picture. Can you believe a comedy winning best picture?

And Corpse Bride was okay. I thought it didn't have enough songs in it. That would have made it a lot more interesting. And I liked the two minute song about her backstory...

I thought Tim Burtons stlye played well to the characters. I wouldn't of liked Victor's design as much if he didn't have that huge bobble head on his tiny little body and dixie cup feet.

THANK YOU! Someone else knows Sufjan!

Ahem, yeah, the two songs were "Chicago" and another one I'm not familiar with. Right now, the only album I have is Come On, Feel The Illinoisel
