In latest to second-drawn order

The first one I experimented with some style.

The thumbs up one is really good (still don't recommend smudge shading because it's murky and hard to erase) My favourite is the open hand, the bolder line work and shading is what I like because it really helps to bring out the form of the hand. While I can still see some smudging on that one I think the stronger shading conveys a lot more than the soft shading.

You've got a fantastic sense of three dimensions and that shading style is awesome. Though it looks like once you got up to the shading stage you may have stopped referencing the original picture? The high lights and shading are in the right places but not always the right shape so his nose for example doesn't look as round and instead a bit sharper. I think contrast between the eye lids and the shadow they cast over his eyes could be more intense to better get across how heavy his eyelids are.
Also his chin was coming a bit forward making his face look rounder than it is.
Otherwise, excellent propotions

Thanks , dire. I'll keep the smudging in mind next time.

My classwork will be late this week, I am sorry. I will try to get the sketches up tomorrow.

Okay.
How about everyone else?
Or did everyone just skip this lesson out of boredom?

I was totally waiting do do critiques and shit and in the end drew a study myself... but hands and feet are kinda pointless for me since they're a hurdle I've passed?

Well then you get to advance to the next level.

Seriously, other than IF, did everyone just skip? It's only week 2!

Truthfully I wanted to stick with this but I've had two rough weeks at work so I've not felt up to doing much drawing and - in all honesty - for me four hand studies is asking for a big chunk of my time considering I could spend between 30 and 60 minutes on just one (so that's two to four hours for the whole thing).

Also I said some things about focussing on my cartoon/comic work last time and since then I've resolved to stick with that line of thinking for the majority of my free artworking time (plus for me these lessons are mostly 'refreshers' of lessons I've covered many times in the past - arguably only a distraction from my existing projects).

Ooop; You've kinda said something like that yourself.

Anyway, that's me being honest about why I haven't done lesson two - and I generally don't have a problem drawing hands either.

Sorry to disappoint.

Hey, I still did one.

But yeah, so long as people are skipping because they were confident and not because of laziness or whatever I guess it's okay.

I still like the idea of doing the self-portrait lesson - but in my head that drawing has moved on from a sketch to a full-blown artwork concept.

I can't speak for why so few others have taken part in the hands lesson.

I skipped it because this is my finals week and I had an assload of stuff to do. I draw hands often enough that I'm probably okay anyway.

Is it possible for me to join this class? I know it's late, but Tuxedo Mask won't leave me alone about joining it.

Not too late, never too late!

Ok, well we may as well get this week's session started.

NATURE STUDIES
This can be landscapes or details of leaves/flowers/rocks/bark.

Use this as an opportunity to refine your understanding of natural environments. Learning to draw a bit of everything means that you don't have to look at google for an hour every time you want to draw something other than a face.

Medium is completely up to you.
