I had to reinstall the game to get rid of it, you may have to do the same to stop it.

I don't want to, as I think it will delete all my stuff.

Just backup the folders you want to keep, redownload the game and put the folders back in. The maps folder is probably the most important one if you have downloaded lots of custom maps.

It wont delete your items in the game, they're all stored in valve's servers. It will delete your custom skins if you've installed any of those.

3DS Max takes so long to download... and it's failed three times! But that I think, has to do with internet connection, there is another laptop in here too.

Also, every few days or so my graphics card will crash for 2-5 seconds, my screen will go black, and then turn back on and a message will pop up that basically says "OOPS Nvidia just shat itself sorry" and everyone continues on as normal. It never damages anything, it's just a nuisance and I like complaining about things so

My mom had this issue a bit ago, her boyfriend fixed it by manually fixing the BIOS' ram settings. Be sure to look into other areas of the computer, it might not necessarily be the GPU.

So i guess its less tech help but really tech advice

gonna buy a computer for the vidya, i'm not looking for anything flashy but most anything is better than the laptop i'm using now

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6883227468 is what I picked out since my last couple run ins with custom build computer websites ended badly and i do not have the time or know-how to build one from scratch

the card seems to run recent games fine, and I figure 3.3ghz and 8GB of ram are more than enough, plus windows 8 looks horrendous and i'm cool with sticking to 7

Looks fine to me, though I will admit I'm not familiar with AMD processors or GPU's.

I have no clue about main boards and CPUs. So can someone help me? I want to build a new computer soon. Right now I still have some 6 year old core2duo 2x 2.3 gHz cpu, so basically anything is better than that nowadays.
I want to get a mainboard, good CPU and RAM and stay below 350 € if possible.

The type of motherboard you need depends on whether you're gonna get an AMD or Intel CPU because they use different sockets. At that price range, you'll be looking for AM3+ if you want an AMD CPU and LGA1155 if you want an Intel CPU. I would suggest that you look for a 100€+ AM3+ motherboard, ~150€ AMD CPU (just Google for benchmark results in that price range) and 8gb of DDR3 RAM. RAM clockrates don't make much of a difference, 1333mhz should be enough.

There's no real answer as to which of the two CPU manufacturers is better but the general consensus is that unless you're going for a high-range setup, AMD should suffice. Intel's motherboards and CPUs are generally a bit more expensive.

If you get stuck, give me links to a couple German hardware stores and I might be able to come up with an example build.

Edit: actually, it seems my info is a bit outdated. AM3+ isn't the newest type of AMD CPU socket anymore. Doesn't make much of a difference though since the best course of action is to decide on a price point (~150€ for the CPU in this case) and then find a compatible motherboard based on the CPU you've chosen, rather than the other way around.

I was looking at those two packs. They both have graphics cards that I don't need with them so I'd sell those to a friend or on ebay or something.

I have no idea if they're any good though.

Or that one that's on sale.

Those are pretty daisies good actually, the Intel one probably has a better price/performance ratio than the AMD one. If you sell the GPU, you should be able to bring the total price down to just around 350€ depending on whether they deliver the parts individually (in which case you'll be able to ask for like 80-90% of the GPU's retail price since it's 'new') or preassembled (in which case you you can ask for about 50% of the retail price even if the GPU hasn't been used once). Just one question though, what about your power supply? If you're replacing old parts in your current desktop, the old power supply most likely won't be enough.

Did you check the 3rd link too?

Power supply will be enough. I already had to get a new one after I got a stronger GPU in 2011. Took a 700 W one instead of the 400 I had before.

Ah, I see. I did a bit of Googling and the i5 seems to beat the AMD CPU from the third link by far, I'm not sure what exactly it is that's raising the price there because the GPU's in the two sets are in the same price range too. I would say go with the Intel deal.

The GPU seems to be far better though since that's a high end gaming one while the nvidia one there is just a medium strength GPU?
But yeah if you say the CPU is superior I'll probably take that offer.
I checked a bit too and was surprised that Intel seems to be leading in CPUs by far in front of AMD.
