"Everyone has an initial motive to kill Bud....to pay off their debt, as well as keep their secret safe. The killer must have had another motive on top of that, or we'd all be suspects."

"Based on the evidence and testimonies presented, it seems most likely that this was a crime of opportunity. Bud somehow made his way to Re-Tail with a knife in his eye, and the killer, seeing him injured and defenseless, took the chance to kill him while no one was around."

"No, I think we can tell just by our statuses in life who would be more likely to kill to protect their secrets."

"Then you're suggesting that... perhaps the common theme between the incident at the river, and the incident at Re-Tail is... Bud was trying to be the murderer?"

"Not very effective, was he?"

"I think this might be coming together..."

"Allow me to present my theory: Someone other than Bud stole the knife from the plaza and used it to cut up Bud's door. For whatever reason, they were interrupted, and accidentally left the knife behind. Why else would they if not for an accident. Bud picks up the knife, and fearing for his life, decides to use it to defend himself. He was out late last night and encountered Joe. A flash of lightning frightens Bud into dropping his knife, as well as the shovel he brought. Joe and Bud struggle, and the knife ends up in Bud's eye. Bud flees, and the killer, having witnessed the struggle, chases after Bud. They catch him at Re-Tail and push him onto the cement, killing him. Then they drag the body to the river in order to frame Joe."

Seriously, that title is tacky. The original wasn't "Super High Schooler Level," was it? It was "Super High School Level," and what the heck is a "High Village"?

But in order to cement it, we need to check with our "Coroner" to see if someone pushed him onto that cement, or dropped him onto the cement. Cranston?"

"Additionally, it leaves one more question: Who cut up Bud's door, and why?"

"Honestly? If the person that took a knife to Bud's door isn't the killer, I don't really care who did it." Whitney sighed. "But I guess we don't know for sure if the 'door assaulter' was the eventual killer."

"If Bud ran from the struggle, why wouldn't Joe chase after immediately? I'm willing to believe your theory, Pierce, especially since moving the body from Re-Tail to Joe's is obviously meant to frame him, but that one part of the night still bothers me. I'm also worried that the mystery of the door is not one to be solved at this trial..."

"Additionally, Joe, the wounds on the back of Bud's head were consistent with a fall, and that's all I can really say about that."

Kamak, did you mean "fall" in the sense that it couldn't have been anything but a fall (no additional force from anyone included), or just that he was hit with the ground and not an object?

"Well, Joe? Care to enlighten us?"

"So really, now that I think of it, hitting his head on concrete might have just been him collapsing from exhaustion, and whoever put the knife in his eye would be technically responsible."

"After our fight, I went back to my house to get a shovel, so I wouldn't know what happened to him while I was away."

"Ah, that's right. You told us that already."

"There's your answer, Cranston. Joe thought he killed Bud, and went to get his shovel to bury the body. Bud fled after that, and was killed at Re-Tail."
