I've only seen the card just now, but by looking at it you can do some serious stuff with token-making creatures and stuff like that.
There are also WAY TOO MANY white cards that can make tokens for cheap.
It can be a board-clearer.

They wanted her to be playable in standard. She's not a bad card, but seven mana without an ETB in W/B is steep in a format with Swagtusk and Restoration Angel. They're more disappointed than anything. She was one of the the most hyped up cards in the set.

Just got a playset of Guttersnipes for one of my decks. Should be fun.

Isn't there a black Orzhov ghost that makes all your black mana tap for double though? I haven't actually played Orzhov (Yay, Azoros for 'murrica), but I remember hearing that there was some weird amount of mana ramp for WB.

Crypt Ghast can ramp her out two turns earlier than normal, but at that point it would just be better playing Griselbrand or something else that largely affects the game state the turn it comes down even if it gets immediately removed. If Teysa gets removed before she can do anything, you've just lost a lot of tempo. That's the issue that a lot of people have with her. Of course she is better than the overreaction from the community would suggest but again, 6CMC+ is the "win the game now" cost in standard according to many players.

I personally think she would make a fun EDH general, where high CMCs are not as hard to get off than in faster formats. I could see her being run with Angel's Grace style cards and some good lifegain effects.

I might consider building a Reaper King deck after I'm done with my Norin the Wary deck. Most of his tribe is crap, but Conspiracy and Xenograft will really help with that...

I'm really liking what I'm seeing for Izzet and Gruul. Wh-what's that? Our champions are good? And Izzets get a Plainswalker? And we get a Hydra? And Mending Touch? And we can fuck yo gurl? I'm loving it even though I'm a scrubby scrub. I have yet to attend an FNM ;_;

I think Emmara was toned down a bit compared to the others, due to Voice of Resurgence being so crazy.

played some casual magic games tonight

for once I felt like the dude was on my level instead of some ridiculous ethereal realm of pure magic attunement

he had this creatureless deck that sort of felt like a pet deck that he was unwilling to change at all. lotta random stuff that only seemed really useful in very specific circumstances

he also had a green/black graveyard draw deck that stomped me a couple times though so it balances out

Voice of Resurgence originally was Emmara. It was a last minute change.

Comparing new Teysa to old Teysa is just sort of disheartening, is my main issue. Old Teysa had a plentiful supply of combos, from the relatively mundane to the game ending. Even just with some graveyard recursion she provided beastly removal. New Teysa is just a dumb beater for an extortionate amount of mana that stops the game until she is dealt with, but doesn't actually win until 5 turns after she starts swinging. During which time your opponent could probably just muster the creatures necessary to swing past her and kill you. Or, y'know, wrath/kill-spell her. I know that saying 'dies to removal' is a bit dumb but if it takes you 5 turns to find an answer to a single creature that late in the game then your problems go beyond getting hit for 4 damage.

If I'm paying 7 mana, I don't necessarily want the game to end, but I want a pretty big swing in my favour to occur. Even cards like Sphinx of Uthuun or Tyrant of Discord, which provide a pretty big power swing, aren't touched in standard outside fringe/casual/odd combo decks. They just end up being too slow and clunky. And when it comes to reanimation, why not just reanimate something even bigger and better? Griselbrand, Craterhoof Behemoth, Angel of Serenity et al.

I still need to legit play with Gruuls, I have had no one to face since making the deck. None of my friends seem that interested in magic, and the ones that do are fuck far away.
