I don't think he's a celestial, I don't know much about them but what Galactus actually is is the embodiment of entropy or something. His size seems to vary, he doesn't actually look like a guy wearing a giant purple helm either, his actual form is incomprehensible so our brain just makes something up.

So then what the hell is wrong with our brains that the first thing we interpret him as is a giant man with a pronged purple helm.

Galactus is the last survivor of the universe preceding ours and will be the start of the one after. Eventually all energy will collect within him, or something like that. The prongs and general shape of him is always the same, but he always looks like whatever you sort of expect him to look like based on what race you are. It's pretty vague. He's definitely not a mere celestial.

maybe he's a giant purple dude since that's we as readers of the comic would expect.

All I know is he's supposed to be big enough to eat planets and according to earth X cannon what he was actually doing was eating the celestial embryos inside the planets.

Okay, so he's some undefined entity who doesn't even hold a fixed form and apparently is a paradox to existence itself.

So explain to me how he gets his booty kicked every time he looks at Earth funny?

Because Super heroes.

Also if he gets his booty kicked (which has happened like twice or something) it's because of something more retardedly OP or bad writing. Most of the time they just manage to convince him not to eat him for whatever reason, or that time they bluffed him out with the Ultimate Nullifier.
